My information is that there were 5 Kilgore brothers that came over from Scotland and fought side by side in the Revolutionary War, and at the battle of Kings Mountain, NC. Some settled in North Carolina (and I think some ended up in TX?) and Charles Kilgore and Robert Kilgore, Sr. (my direct ancestor) moved to Scott County, VA thereafter. There is a book called Charles Kilgore of Kings Mountain that outlines the line of descendants who came from Charles Kilgore and Robert Kilgore, Sr. by Hugh Addington. However, some of the genealogical info on descendants of Charles vs. Robert in the book is erroneous. The settlement story is thought to be correct, however. I live in Russell County, which borders Scott County, VA.
