I have tracked my family Kilian to Alsace. My GGG grandfather was Dr Jacques Kilian. Immigrated approximately 1847 to the Milstadt/St Clair Illinois area. Had a son Jacob, who had a son George, who had a son George Bernard, who had a son George Bernard Kilian Jr and had a some Michael George Kilian, and that's me. I'd like to share details I have with anyone who is looking for connections.

I have tried but it's difficult because most websites are in german. Also, Germany has been taken over and renamed so many times throughout history that records are just hard to find if not destroyed. If you can determine what church the family belonged to and you know german, you may find some useful information. The catholic churches in germany retain alot of information.

Thanks, Debbie Hemberger

Hi Debbie, How have you managed to get info re the Kilian's in Germany ? - I would like to try and delve deeper but don't know if there is a genealogy service in Germany that one can contact ?? Our Kilian line came from Somerloch, Rhoneland in about 1752 and came out to South Africa. Chris Kilian

I wonder if he is a brother of Heinrich Kilian, born around 1803 in Guntershawzen, Hesse-Cassel, Germany? I believe his father's name was Johann or Juan Kilian but I could never confirm either. I believe Heinrich died in 1857 in Indiana, USA. Not sure about his wife Catherina. The family immigrated to US in 1854.

You can view my Kilian Family tree and see if anything connects. I would love to know if we do have a connection since Heinrich Kilian is the farthest ancestor I have located.

Thanks, Debbie

Hi
just read a message from 18 Nov 2005.

My great great great grandfather was Adam Kilian I believe he was born about 1794 in Geisenheim Prussia and he had died around 1850. His wife was Catherina Christ and I believe that she had died prior to 1855. I only have two of their children, Susannah born about 1826 and Heinrick born about 1830.
Both Susannah & Heinrick immigrated to Australia about 1855.
Susannah was married to Johann Joseph Korn in 1854 Geisenheim. They had 5 children in australia.
Heinrick married Catherina C Koppler.
Does any of this information connect to the Adam Kilian that you had mentioned in your earlier post?

Regards

Hi Dawn,
I was suprised to see an email from you. I am Henry Kilian's great grandaughter, brother to Anna Elizabeth Woolgar. I believe I have a picture in my tree of her daughter. I found the pictures in my grandparents attic when my grandmother passed away. I only knew of the one half-brother to Henry Kilian named Jacob. When I found the pictures and family bible I did some research and discovered all these other siblings. The only additional information I have is on my Great-Grandfather Henry.

I would like to learn more of the Woolgar family and share info.

My name is Debra (Debbie) Kilian-Hemberger

my email address is dhemberger@gmail.com

I will send you more information on Henry Kilian.

I don't believe Carl and Adam were brothers but maybe cousins. Johann Heinrich Kilian came to New York from Germany (Prussia) with wife and four sons, Conrad, Johan, Adam & Justus in Sept 1854 on the Jeveland. I believe there was another son Henry who came to America around 1852 but have not found a direct connection except through Adam. I have not come across a Carl in this lineage.

I am stuck on Johann I cannot find brothers or anything past them arriving in New York.

Debra Kilian-Hemberger email: dhemberger@gmail.com

I have a birth certificate for my grandfather which says that his parents were from Hohen. However, I do not know where that is. I am assuming it is near Hamburg, as that was always mentioned, plus his father was a seacaptain. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

On my mother's side of the family we have the names Kilian/Huber (around Frankfurt) and
Wahlen (Hamburg) / Berlin(Stade).

Again, my thanks to you,

Kathryn Treglia

Hi - My Kilians emigrated to America in 1851. They lived in NYC. Parents and 7 children. The one son I am trying to find information about owned a hotel in Massapequa and reportedly had other business interests there. He would have been my greatgrandmother's brother. I know just a very little about her other siblings, except she had a brother George, perhaps the one in Massapequa was Frank and 4 sisters. It sure would be fun to find some long lost cousins. Thanks for your message.

My Valentine and Marie Huber Kilian emigrated from Mannheim area of Germany in 1851. The only Valentine I can find is one spelled with 2 els - in Brooklyn, a butcher.
From stories told I get the feeling there were more of the family, either Kilian or Huber, who also emigrated around the same time, but no names. Just a big brick wall. Good luck!

You may want to check out Sickingen, Baden, Germany microfilms from a Family History Center. I came across a wealth of Kilians in records there some of whom I do know emigrated to go to the U.S. There is a Karl Kilian (which is often the German for Charles) born to Matthias Kilian and Sophia Winterothon 25 October 1859. I could find no death or marriage record for him. Could be that he immigrated to the States. I know three of his uncles, Alfred Winteroth, Otto Winteroth, Sigmund Winteroth moved their families to New York. An Aunt, Sylvia Winteroth also came to America. In any event, the place is literally "crawling" with Kilians. You may want to check it out. Good luck.
Barb

A New Killian Book to be published

The Association of Descendants of Pioneer Andreas Killian has announced that a new Killian Family book is planned for publication in 2009. It is a co-operative effort by the descendants of Andreas Killian. Copies of the book will be made available for all Killians and interested parties.

Read more at http://www.andreaskillian.com/newsletters/2008Feb.pdf
page 10 and 11.

If you have a file on Andreas, his children or his grandchildren you are willing to share, we need your help. The book needs authors. Co-authors are acceptable, or you may contribute your data for someone else to write the narrative. Re-writes and editing services are available.

If you can contribute and would like to join us in this effort,
please contact me Cheryl Killian at imo_yrit@yahoo.com
or write to:
130 Rowan Road
Ellenwood, GA 30294
or call: (770)-337-5310

The new book is an effort to fulfill J. Yates Killian's 1935 request and to produce a source book for Andreas Killian descendants.

In the past 73 years since J. Yates Killian wrote "The History of The Killian Family in North Carolina" much has been learned about the children and grandchildren of Andreas Killian. Be part of the new book....Share your family knowledge. Contribute to the new Killian Family book.

Where did your family settle in Wisconsin? I am working on a Kilian family that settled in Milwaukee in the 1850's. Adam Kilian of Germany married Elizabeth von Lining born near Mainz. Their children were born in Wisconsin by 1849 when Augusta was born. Per a RootsWeb post she married John Orth b 1840 Germany in 1867 at St. Joseph's Church in Milwaukee. John was the son of Adam Orth and Elizabeth Regner both born Germany.
