I have tracked my family Kilian to Alsace. My GGG grandfather was Dr Jacques Kilian. Immigrated approximately 1847 to the Milstadt/St Clair Illinois area. Had a son Jacob, who had a son George, who had a son George Bernard, who had a son George Bernard Kilian Jr and had a some Michael George Kilian, and that's me. I'd like to share details I have with anyone who is looking for connections.

I have tried but it's difficult because most websites are in german. Also, Germany has been taken over and renamed so many times throughout history that records are just hard to find if not destroyed. If you can determine what church the family belonged to and you know german, you may find some useful information. The catholic churches in germany retain alot of information.

Hi Debbie, How have you managed to get info re the Kilian's in Germany ? - I would like to try and delve deeper but don't know if there is a genealogy service in Germany that one can contact ?? Our Kilian line came from Somerloch, Rhoneland in about 1752 and came out to South Africa. Chris Kilian

I wonder if he is a brother of Heinrich Kilian, born around 1803 in Guntershawzen, Hesse-Cassel, Germany? I believe his father's name was Johann or Juan Kilian but I could never confirm either. I believe Heinrich died in 1857 in Indiana, USA. Not sure about his wife Catherina. The family immigrated to US in 1854.

You can view my Kilian Family tree and see if anything connects. I would love to know if we do have a connection since Heinrich Kilian is the farthest ancestor I have located.

just read a message from 18 Nov 2005.

My great great great grandfather was Adam Kilian I believe he was born about 1794 in Geisenheim Prussia and he had died around 1850. His wife was Catherina Christ and I believe that she had died prior to 1855. I only have two of their children, Susannah born about 1826 and Heinrick born about 1830.
Both Susannah & Heinrick immigrated to Australia about 1855.
Susannah was married to Johann Joseph Korn in 1854 Geisenheim. They had 5 children in australia.
Heinrick married Catherina C Koppler.
Does any of this information connect to the Adam Kilian that you had mentioned in your earlier post?

also from the one "L" Kilians originally from sommerloch. have managed to track back to Johannes Georgius Kilian from Sommerlock but nothing further back than that. Have you seen the book Die Kilians by L.H. Strydom and H.j. van S Schoeman? ISBN0-620-23866-6 originally from Genealogical society of south africa. Publication no 2 1999

There is a book about the Kilians in south Africa called Die Kilians by L.H. Strydom and H.J. van S Schoeman . It used to be issued by the Genealogical Society of South Africa in Pretoria. ISBN 0-620-23866-6

Hi Dawn,
I was suprised to see an email from you. I am Henry Kilian's great grandaughter, brother to Anna Elizabeth Woolgar. I believe I have a picture in my tree of her daughter. I found the pictures in my grandparents attic when my grandmother passed away. I only knew of the one half-brother to Henry Kilian named Jacob. When I found the pictures and family bible I did some research and discovered all these other siblings. The only additional information I have is on my Great-Grandfather Henry.

I would like to learn more of the Woolgar family and share info.

I don't believe Carl and Adam were brothers but maybe cousins. Johann Heinrich Kilian came to New York from Germany (Prussia) with wife and four sons, Conrad, Johan, Adam & Justus in Sept 1854 on the Jeveland. I believe there was another son Henry who came to America around 1852 but have not found a direct connection except through Adam. I have not come across a Carl in this lineage.

I am stuck on Johann I cannot find brothers or anything past them arriving in New York.

Hi, not directly related to Adam Kilian - I am Chris Kilian from South Africa. Does anyone on this site have any contacts or experience trying to research Kilians in/from Germany ? - I would like to get info on the Kilian families in Germany and if there is any common ancestor going back to Holland / Ireland ? My particular line came from Sommerloch, Rhoneland in about late 1600's

Iem too looking for my ancestors KILIAN. Adam Kilian married Amelia Dambroski. They lived in Westfhalia, Werne, Germany. Their children were Fred, Karl, Hattie, Alma(my grandmother). Thanks for contacting me regarding Elizabeth Frick. My information might be helpful to you.

Adam Kilian married Elisabeth Frick on 09/21/1865 and died on 3/29/1874, I believe from childbirth complications. With Adam she had the following children:

Anna Elizabeth Kilian B-1866, m-Woolgar
Henry John Kilian B-01/11/1869 (my great-grandfather)
Louisa Ann Kilian B-1871, m-Louis Wolfgang, D-01/13/1906 (childbirth complications)
Matilda Katherine?? Kilian B-1874, m-Gustav Wolfman.

I have alot of information on Adam's grandfather and great-grandfather but I can't verify some of its accuracy.

I would be glad to trade information with you.

Have went back about 7 generations of my family tree. I got back to Johann Christoph Kilian who married Anna Wernern in Germany. Please e-mail me if you have add'l info on this line of Kilian's. Some of the family settled in Wisconsin and one line came to Dakota Territory.
