Easley Kilpatrick Bible

The information contained in the Easley Kilpatrick Bible which is found on Martha Marbles' website can be a little confusing. I have been researching the John Cooley family of Darlington Co., SC for 30 years and only two years randomly working on Easley Kilpatrick and his wife Mary Cooley. Mary Cooley and the Martha Ann Parnell, who is listed on the page "Deaths" , were sisters. They were daughters on John and Rachel Cooley, and William Cooley, brother of Mary and Martha Ann, was my 3rd gr-grandfather. Nartha Ann Cooley Parnell was the mother of Israel C. Parnell. Israel and Florence Saverance Parnell were the parents of Eliza Adeline Parnell who was the wife of Elias Fletcher Kilpatrick.

The names of Easley and Mary's children appear to be correct. However, in the 1800 Darlington Census, they were reported to have 4 sons under the age of 10. Two of the sons did not appear on the 1810 Sumter Co. census. Also, was Elias Fletcher Kilpatrick another son??

The question as to the identity of E.S. Kilpatrick b 1819 has been raised. The copies of the Death and Birth pages of the bible clearly show that "S" was the middle initial.

The photostat copies I have of the Births/Deaths appear to have been written by the same person - and probably at the same time. The entries are clear, concise, and very neat. Most bible entries I have seen appear to have been written at different times.

The note Martha Marbles referred to that was found in the bible she saw was a list of heirs of John Cooley after his wife Rachel died in 1839. The heirs appeared in the probate of the estate in 1841-1843.

I hope this helps to clear up some of the confusion and, like everyone else, I hope for a solution to the question - was E. S. Kilpatrick the Easley Kilpatrick later found in AL with a wife named Emily Jane Hammons.

Betty Moreno
Kilpatricks of Hephzibah / Augusta GA

I was in the Hephzibah Vance Cemetery yesterday researching my Foss family. One member married a Emily "Emmie" Kilpatrick. There is a Kilpatrick plot almost directly next to the Foss plot. In the Kiplatrick plot are Rev. W.L. Kilpatrick (Oct 1828-Oct 1896), his 1st wife Sarah E. Shick (Feb. 7, 1832-June 27, 1872), his 2nd wife Emma J. Hudson (Mar. 17, 1843-Aug. 13, 1926), son (by Sarah) James Hall (1864-1865), son Wycliffe Hudson, daughter Willie Hudson (Nov. 9, 1880- Oct. 30, 1881) and infant daughter Washington Lilla. My question is: does anyone know if there is and if so what is the connection between these Kilpatricks and Emily Kilpatrick (Sept. 12, 1875-April 21, 1914)? Also, there was a Dr. Kilpatrick who practiced in Augusta, but traveled to Blythe to deliver my grandfather in 1910 and was still around to deliver my mother in 1941. Is there a connection between Dr. Kilpatrick and WL or Emmie? Thanks in advance for your help! esnellsmith@prodigy.net

Ephraim Kilpatrick - b. 1800 in Scotland

Ephraim Kilpatrick (Kirkpatrick) was born about 1800 in Scotland. On 24 April 1831 he married Helen (Ellen) Irvine (1808-1880), daughter of James Irvine and Elizabeth Cochrane. The marriage took place in Renfrew Abbey, Paisley, Renfrewshire. At the time of the marriage, Ephraim was a resident of West Ferguslie.

They immigrated to Lanark County, Ontario in 1836. In 1841, 1851, 1861, and 1871 they appear in the census for Carleton Place, Lanark County, Ontario. They then moved to Isabella, Isabella County, Michigan where they appear in the 1880 census. About the time they moved to Michigan, the family surname was changed from Kilpatrick to Kirkpatrick. Ephraim Kirkpatrick died 14 August 1880 in Isabella.

The children Ephraim Kirkpatrick and Helen Irvine were:

Elizabeth Kirkpatrick. 1832. Married John Rorison
James Irvine Kirkpatrick. 1834-1907. Married Anna McMaster
John Kirkpatrick. 1836. Married Mary Slater
Ellen Kirkpatrick. 1842. Married George Horsack
Margaret Kirkpatrick. 1842-1872. Married David Findlay
Ephraim Kirkpatrick. 1846-1930. Married Eliza Ann Willis and Annie Bolton

I am descended from Ephraim Kirkpatrick and Helen Irvine through their son James Irvine Kirkpatrick. I would like to contact anyone who is researching this Kirkpatrick family in order to exchange information. Thanks
In regard to Mary and James, I imagine they were born around 1860, their children were born in the mid 1880's. I just learned about them last week so I'm not sure yet.

My great grandmother was Mary Kilpatrick of Carrownree, Sligo. (She had several brothers & sisters)

Her father was John Kilpatrick. (Don't know mother's name yet) He was buried in the Church of Ireland, Skreen.

She married James Boland of Tullylin, Sligo. They had several children. They lived in Tullylin, Culleens, Castleconnor area.

Looking for more info on this family.

emily@homesweethouston.com
Joseph Kilpatrick, b. 1852 Mississippi, moved to Connecticut

Joseph Kilpatrick was my greatgrandfather. His wife's name was Mary (born in Ireland 1861). His children were Edward, Howard (my grandfather), Mary (Macey), Bernice and Leroy, all born in Connecticut, 1884-1899. Does anyone have any information about his ancestors? I wonder if he's connected with the Andrew Kilpatrick family. I have family history indicating roots in the Carolinas and some connection with Elihu from Mississippi.

Old school book of Walter H Kilpatrick

I bought an old arithmetic book at an antique store in Waynesville, OH ten years ago. I thought it might be of interest to a descendant of the original owner, Walter H. Kilpatrick. There is quite a bit of handwriting in the book - cute sayings, plus info on Walter. Two dates written in the book are from 1882 and 1884. Walter has written his name in the book multiple times, plus the information : "I am 13th years, 7 months, & 10 days old" plus "Winchester Randolph County Indiana". The name "Mr. Rufus C. Hill" is also inscribed in the book. Contact me for further information sillyygoose@aol.com if this is a family member of yours. I will be happy to send you the book - it should go to a descendant.

Re: Isaac N. KILPATRICK in Illinois

I am the ggg-grandson of Isaac N Kilpatrick (b 1827) of Randolph, IL. He is listed in the 1850 census working on a farm with supposed brother Robert B Kilpatrick working on a neighboring farm. I am not 100% sure that they are brothers, but it is very possible. A Robert B Kilpatrick (of Randolph, IL) is also cited as having served in the E 30th IL Infantry in the Civil war, but was discharged after only one year due to disability.

Illinois marriage records also indicate that a Robert B Kilpatrick of Randolph, IL married a Sarah L Dean on 21 Jul 1863. I am trying to determine if the Robert B Kilpatrick I am tracking may be the same Robert B Kilpatrick of your family line. If we can make a link I can then possibly add Isaac N Kilpatrick as his brother and hence the rest of my family line.

Joseph Kilpatrick, d. 1757? in Orange County, North Carolina?

I'm trying to pin down Joseph Kilpatrick in North Carolina in the mid-1700s. I have him listed twice in my records and cannot figure out if these are two different men, or the same man.

I have a Joseph Kilpatrick, d. 1757 in Orange county, North Carolina with sons William & James. I have William married to Margaret Dickey and their children as Catherine, Joseph Dickey & Elizabeth (who married Warner Metcalf). I have no further info on this James.

Then I have a Joseph Kilpatrick married to Mary [--?--], and their children as Rebecca, John Balis, John C., Joseph W. and Hugh (who married Martha McClure). I also have a notation that after Joseph Kilpatrick's death his widow Mary married a James Dickey.

Can anyone shed some light on this/these man/men?

Thank you!
Juli

Search for Descendants of Rev. Joseph Dickey Kilpatrick

I have been approached by the pastor of Back Creek Presbyterian Church in Rowan County, NC for help in locating living descendants of the Rev. Joseph Dickey Kilpatrick, who served as the first pastor of the Church from 1805 to 1829.

Kilpatrick was born either in South Carolina or in the Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church community in Cabarrus County, NC, on October 8, 1763. His wife, Margaret, died January 16, 1834 at the age of about 62 years. The couple had nine children, according to information at hand. Rev. Kilpatrick was ordained by Orange Presbytery in 1793. He served a number of Presbyterian churches in North Carolina, including Third Creek, Unity, Joppa, and Back Creek. He died September 20, 1829. He and his wife were buried in the cemetery of the Third Creek Presbyterian Church in Rowan County, North Carolina.

Back Creek Presbyterian Church is observing its 200th year of organization this year with a number of special activities planned. Among the commemorative souvenirs planned is the publication of a comprehensive history of the Church this fall.

Back Creek Church will observe Homecoming September 11, 2005. It is the desire of the congregation that one or more descendants of Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Dickey Kilpatrick will be present at the September Homecoming celebration.

Kilpatrick descendants may contact me or the minister of the Back Creek Presbyterian Church (Rev. William R. Thrailkill) by e-mailing thrailkill1@juno.com. Thank you for any assistance in tracking down descendants.

KILPATRICK / DICKEY Marriages

I have some information on the Kilpatricks in NC and their marriages to the Dickey family that may be of some limited help. Catherine W. Kilpatrick (Jane and Catherine weres sister) was born May 15, 1821. She married John Brady Dickey and lived in the Mineral Bluff area of Fannin County Georgia. There is a church in the area with a dedication to them on it. They had at least seven children that I have listed on old documents. The Dickey Family PlotOff Hwy 64 below Murphy NC, on Old Dickey Road also is where Jane A. Dickey(Kilpatrick) born 4/30/1816, died 4/29/1891, married to G.W. Dickey is buried. I also have a reference to an Elizabeth Kilpatrick born 1785, died 1845 whom lived in the area (I do not know if she was their mother). And, another reference to a Hugh Kilpatrick whom served under Captain Phillip Taylor in 1777 in the Revolutionary War, the DAR# 436469. Any other information on the family in the NC area would be greatly appreciated.

I know there are other Kilpatricks in this area (George lived in Lancaster, but I believe very close to the Chester Co. border). I have not been able to tie Janet with any other Kilpatricks. George and Janet had the following children: Alexander, John, Joseph, George, Moses, Mary, Jean and Agnes. Janet Kilpatrick McCown died on Apr. 28, 1767, in Oxford Twp., Chester Co., PA.
I am trying to find the ancestry line of Benjamin Arnold Kilpatrick alias The Tall Texan who rode with the Butch Cassidy hole in the wall gang before the turn of the last century. He died while robbing a train outside Sanders Texas in 1912. I am lead to believe from the book that his father was George Kilpatrick and his grandfather was possibly Samuel Kilpatrick. Can you help me, as I think I am related as my GrGrandfather was sitting Judge Hugh Hall Kilpatrick nearby at Marfa Texas.

Mary KILPATRICK -- b. abt. 1800

I am searching for the family of a Mary Kilpatrick born approx. 1800 (give or take). She was disowned by her family when she married a Robert Weir. Family rumour has it that her family was titled. She and Robert eventually came to Oxford-on-Rideau Twp, Grenville Co, Ontario and raised a family. Any information will be greatly appreciated as I have hit the proverbial brick wall. Thanks.
