I've been trying to complete my family tree and I've hit a roadblock because of differing information that is out there. My Kincaid lineage is as follows...

Robert B. Kincaid (1878-1964) m.
Mary Frances Profitt (1879-1950)

Edward B. Kincaid (1850-1927) m.
Emily J. Cable (1851-1918)

Lycurgus Kincaid (1829-1923) m.
Malinda Spencer (1829-1910)

Edward W. Kincaid (1798-1857) m.
Miriam Plummer (1802-1852)

James Kincaid (1767-1829) m.
Margaret Wyatt (1772-1831)


I am having a hard time finding out if the father of James Kincaid is William Kincaid (1740-1794) or Andrew Kincaid (1740-?). It seems to me that William Kincaid makes more sense since this lineage is more rooted to Kentucky and it shows William Kincaid as being born in Virginia and then dying in Kentucky whereas it seems Andrew was stayed in Virginia. I'm also wondering if the two are not one and the same due to the fact that they were both born in 1740?

I was wondering if anyone else shared this lineage and could let me know if they've seen any official records and what the results of those findings are. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give.
