I really do not know the date of death of John P. King's father. The dates of 1816-1818 were a supposition based on the assumption that Barbara was the widow of his father. However, I do not believe that she was the widow since she sued a John King for paternity, therefore, her son was illegitimate. I believe that the widow story was a gloss over this situation. I do not know exactly who was the father as the court records do not identify him except by name and there were several of the same name in Wythe Co. at that time. I will keep looking for that and post it if and when I find it.
