My Great Grandfather is Forrest Roy (changed from Rosalvo) Kingman. Forrest was the son of Morrison McMillan Kingman and grandson of Rosalvo Kingman.

I was able to find a tie to Samuel Clemens with the assistance of the find famous relatives feature in Ancestry.com. He is 5th cousin once removed to Jane Agnes McMillan through her mother Rebecca Clarissa Brown.

Along with the story of the relationship with Mark Twain, my grandmother was told by her grandmother that they were related to Mary Queen of Scotts. I have not been able to find that connection.

Your grandfather was my Uncle John. My father was William Leo Kingman Sr., the brother of your grandfather John. My mother may know something about the Kingman or Severance line pre 1900. I will ask her about it the next time I see her. At one time, she knew all of my aunts and their siblings very well, I think all of the aunts have passed on. The Kingman line from John and Ina has continued to grow. I have five brothers and all of us have children. Brothers names are: William Leo Jr.- children - Michael, Nicole and William, Patrick Michael -children - Patrick, Derek, and Ricciann, Gary Redmond - children - Gary, Keri and Mikayla, Sean Xavier - MacKenzie and Ty, Eamon Rex - child - Cody and myself Terrance Sean - children - Layne, Abbey and Gage. I don't know if any of this information will help, but I thought it might give you an idea of how large the Kingman family is in this area. I will check with my mom on the names of your grandfather's sister's children names and locations. Maybe you can contact them for more information.

Hi again,
When I reread your msg, I realized I hadn't answered the
Kingman question. Hannah Kingman from Bridgewater
is a decendent of Henry and Joanna Kingman.
They came over in the mid 1630s and lived in Bridgewater.
I am decended from them also. Hannah was their great-
granddaughter. She was born in 1706, married John Alden
in 1727, and died Dec 26, 1744. They had 8 children, the
last was born in Oct 1743. No wonder he married
Rebecca so fast!!!

Hi Carole,
Gosh, I posted that msg so long ago that I forgot what I said.
According to the Alden Kindred of America, Inc., all Aldens trace back to John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of the
Mayflower fame. Go to www.alden.org. That's the Alden
Kindred's web-site. I'm applying for membership this month.
If you want to purchase the Alden Genealogy book put out
(I believe) by the Mayflower Society, go to giftshop, then
book order form (alden website). It's $45.
E-mail me directly if you like. ceville@flash.net

The one on the right must be Myra - she bears a VERY strong resemblance to the family. I am not aware of any Myra Kingman, however. I have asked some family members and will check back with more info if I can get some.

My lineage comes through my mother, a Kingman, a descendant of Lewis Kingman. Lewis left East Bridgewater MA as a young man and ventured west. I imagine other Kingman lines did the same, but can't (yet) pin down Myra.

Roger, Ken

I, too, have been searching the Kingmans. One
of my second cousins, Kerry Davis, has also left
you a message. While I, myself, can't lay claim
to Kingman ancestry, I have been researching for
Keith Davis, son of Marie Kingman Davis, daughter
of MM Kingman. Keith is my second cousin once
removed and Kerry's uncle.

I have found a book about Chelan Butte in which
you might be interested. It has many references
to MM Kingman. Apparently, the author interviewed
Kenneth Kingman Sr, so there is some mention of
his life, too. I am ordering copies for Keith and
Kerry while the supply lasts. You might also
be interested.

The book is

Van Voorhis, Ford, "The Homesteaders of Chelan
Butte", Binford Mort Publishing, Portland, OR
1984.

To order, send a check for $24.95 per book plus
$4.00 shipping for the first book and $0.50 per
book after that to

Binford Mort Publishing
PO Box 91580
Portland, OR 97291

You might want to call and make sure they still
have some copies since they told me that they
were running low.

(503) 844-4960

I have also found cemetery records for the Kingman's
in the Chelan area, and a pamphlet with pictures
of Herb Kingman and some of his family.

I would be pleased to share information.

Gretchen Louise Bradfield

Dear Roger:
Thank you for the information.Positive identification of Edward Lyman Kingman as my Grandfather. He had to sons and one daughter with Rosa Riofrio y Riofrio, but he never wed her, since he was already married. This was of course kept hidden in a very close-knit catholic community. So much so that I just found out about it in the past month. Only my mother Eunice and her brother Nicolás are still alive, their other brother Eduardo Kingman died a couple of years ago. He was one of the best ecuadorian painters, and you can see some of his works on his virtual museum on the web.We, Eunice's, Nicolas' and Eduardo's offspring wopuld like to know more about him, specially if we have any kin, since he seems not to have had any (legitimate)children according to what you write. Are you, by chance, family? You can contct me directly at evorbeck@andinanet.net
Kind regards
Erik

Hi Ken! I just found this site and stumbled across
your posts. Morrison McMillin Kingman was my
great grandfather. Forest Rosolvo Kingman was
my grandmother's brother -- she was Alice Marie
Kingman Davis. My father, W. Kenneth Davis, was
named after Nana's (Alice Marie) brother Kenneth.
What relation does this make us??? I've been trying
to find ancestor info about MM Kingman and anything
before him but have nothing. Do you??? I have other Kingmans
I'm trying to make a connection to.

Kerry Davis
Kentfield, California
(you can use my email if you'd like:
Malpower@home.com)
