Hello,
My ggg grandfather was a bastard child born to a Burnett female in 1794 near Fettercairn, Scotland. Family history has always pointed to a David Kinloch as the Father.
Research shows he was a area farmer.
I have been searching for over 40 years and have come up with little.
I would like to find a male Kinloch who has had their DNA research done. As so I can compare it with mine. I do not match with any Burnett DNA.
If any male Kinloch can help I would be extremely grateful.

David Burnett
Winnipeg, Mb. Canada.
dcb123@shaw.ca

I haven't been able to trace John Kinloch's ancestry. However, I have become convinced that although he owned property in the St Monance area, he did not own the castle and the property descended to the Sandilands through the Sandilands/Moncrieffe/Scott connections. What does your research show?
Nola

Hi, I am writing for my mother. We have just started searching for our genealogy and stumbled upon your message.
My mother, Susan (maiden name Austin), is Everett Starke Kinloch's great granddaughter. We presently have his doctoral license framed on our living room wall.
We are very interested in any documentation or information you or anyone would have on our family.
We are very interested in going to Ireland and Scotland to look for our family lineage, and didn't know where to start. We had no idea we were from Glasgow and are very excited to find this information.

This is the information we have on Everett:
To our understanding he was the first to own an automobile in the city of Troy because he was a doctor. Then he purchased a house and property (originally owned by VanRennsalear) in Center Brunswick and that is the house my mother grew up in.
His daughter Dorothy May is my mother's Grandmother and lived with her and her husband in the house.
He received his doctrine in (roman numeral) MDCCCXCV (1895?)
As far as for his father Alexander G., we have no information, but perhaps this will help some. We would appreciate any information you may have on anyone.
My mother is only a year older then you. We are curious as to what side of the family you are from - Alexander or his wife.
We are excited to have found you and anticipate your reply!

Nicole and Susan DeVito
My great-g-g-grandfather George COWAN was born at St.Botolph Without Aldgate in London UK in 1768. George married there to an Ann Kinloch (widow) ~ 1798. George's parents were Archibald & Margaret COWAN or COWEN (Margaret's surname is unknown). I have no idea from whom Ann descended but would dearly love to know more about this KINLOCH line as well as the COWENs too! Can someone help me in this quest?? Thanking you very kindly in anticipation. Cheers, Rob Bell, Essendon, Victoria, Australia.

Archibald COWAN/COWEN

My great-g-g-grandfather George COWAN was born at St.Botolph Without Aldgate in London UK in 1768. George's wife was an Ann Kinloch. George's parents were Archibald & Margaret COWAN or COWEN (Margaret's surname is unknown). My problem is that I cannot find any record of Archibald in London via the IGI or any other means. However I notice that there was an Archibald COWAN in Argyll, Scotland as well at least one other in another Scottish region. The funny thing is that there was a story passed down through the years that the COWANs did originate from Scotland. But I have no specific information to substantiate this proposition! Can anyone enlighten me as to where this London line of COWANs descended from? Can anyone identify which Archibald is my correct ancestor? Any help here is very much appreciated. Thanks & cheers, Rob Bell, Essendon, Victoria, Australia.

St. Monance Cruvie, Fife, Scotland

John Kinloch owned the above noted two castles in Fife in the 15th century. He had no sons and his two daughters inherited. One daughter, Margaret, married James Sandilands and it was this line that retained St. Monance Castle (my particular interest) for the next 150 - 200 years. I have been unable to find what happened to the other daughter, Janet who married John Ramsay.
Has anyone been doing research into this part of the family? If they have, please contact me.
Thank-you very much.
Nola

My maiden name is Kinloch. I am Sharon Margaret, daughter of Robert Kinloch and Dorothy Kinloch (nee Boles). I believe I am your first cousin. Your mother, Barbara is my father's sister.
Your mother was one of eight children born to William and Margaret Kinloch between aprox. 1908 and 1935. Other children were Agnes, William, Alex, Jimmy, Margaret, Irene Iin aproximate order). Only my father and Irene are still living.
According to my father, our grandparents emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario in the 1920's. When the depression hit, most of the family returned to Glasgow (1933?). Your mother however stayed in Canada, to the best of my knowledge.
It would be interesting to discuss family with you. Please let me know if you are interested.

Hi Paul: Hope you are still interested in this posting since it's from a few years back. My gg-gran was Victoria Jean (Jane as she was called) Kinloch. Your birth and death dates match mine exactly. From my notes, she was born in Ayrshire, Scotland but still have no documentation. I have her death cert - she died in Clandeboye, Middlesex, Ontario. She was married to James Fraser. I believe her father's name was James Kinloch. I have more info if you're interested. Are you related in some way? I'll be hoping for a reply.

Alexander G. Kinloch's father was Alexander Kinloch, born in Scotland, married Mary Ann Stark in Glasgow June 8, 1818. They emigrated from Scotland to Montreal sometime between 1831 and 1836. My great-great grandmother is Mary Kinloch, their daughter and sister to Alexander G. She was born in Glasgow March 7 1831, and married Benjamin F. Currier August 14, 1852. Mary and Benjamin are buried in Mt. Ida Cemetary in Troy, NY. Have been trying to get more information beyond that but keep hitting the brick wall. Let me know if you get anything more.

Thank you so much George. This is so incredible to find you. I would love to get a copy of the parish register for Mary Ann Stark and Alexander Kinloch. If you would be able to do that, my mailing address is: P. O. Box 191, Parker Ford, PA 19457.

We're about the same age--I was born November 1956. I can't wait to write my Aunt Patience. She was born Mary Kinloch but changed her name later to Patience. She and I are the only two who are interested in genealogy. She has traveled to Glasgow, Scotland. I've been to Ireland but am hoping in the next year or so to make it to Scotland.

Thanks so much and if I learn anymore I'll post it on board. Please do the same.

Ann Kinloch Sheehan
