They lived in Putnam Co., TN. She was born around 1853. She married Louis Napolean Rippetoe. No one seems to know what happened to her or when she died. I am trying to find out where she is buried.

I am trying to obtain a copy of the birth record for Alexander Kinnaird born to John and Margaret Davdison or Adamson (have seen both names on other childrens birth records). This line was added to my family tree on Kinnaird Worldwide (family 31) and for years I have been waiting to obtain the record from the Mormon Church. Is there anyone in Scotland who could obtain this record for me? I can be emailed at Anamaaio@aol.com, or please email me directly for mailing address

Thanks for your help.
Christy

I agree! It would be great to get a good dialog going. Maybe it would turn up some new "leads" that we haven't seen before!

I suspect that "my" James Kinnard's father may have been John Kinnard who is found in 1820 in White Co. TN but disappears by 1830 -- this is where I pick up Sarah Kinnard. Sarah was the mother of 8 children. I think I know who 2 of them are -- but who and where are the rest?

If you look at land records of early middle TN, you see Montgomery's name along with Birket, Nathaniel, Hazlet, and Moses. I don't if anyone knows "for sure" how these men were related, although Moses is generally identified as Montgomery's son. If you look at the 1820 census, there are lots of children that go unaccounted for. There is also an Elizabeth Knard that shows up in Bible records marrying Elias Byers. I don't know who she belongs to either. Very frustrating...and this line no longer gets the hits to get a good dialog going anymore.

James Kinnard b. 1817 son of Montgomery? No

I descend from James Kinnard. I do not think that James is Montgomery's son. Here is my reasoning.... feel free to disagree with me! I would love to see other sources on this...

In 1830 in White Co, TN. There is living a Sally Kinnard -- probably widowed.

In 1840 this same Sally (now Sarah) Kinnard is still in White Co, TN. Next door to her is James Kinnard. This is James Kinnard who married Mary (Polly) Hill.

I can not find these families in 1850 but in 1860 James Kinnard is living in Putnam Co., TN. In the Pennington household (next door) his mother Sarah Kinnard is living with her grandchildren.

In 1860 Montgomery is living with his wife Sarah in Putnam Co. TN.

In 1840 he is in Jackson Co. TN. I'm not sure where he is in 1850.

James Kinnard b. 1817 who married Mary Hill -- thru all the records that I have been able to discover never really has any interactions with Montgomery's family.

It seems like I once ran across a James Kinnard who was born 1819 and had a wife Polly. He had left TN. One of his children had been named Montgomery.

I think that it is easy to get confused here. 2 James Kinnard's born near the same time, nearly the same place, with wives both named Mary/Polly, and with mother's both named Sarah.

I would love to see other's sources or arguments for or against this. It would be interesting to see what turns up. It is very possible that these families are related -- though I doubt that it is the father/son connection that has been spread on the internet so much.

Cool yes I have been to the cemetry and their graves several years back and taken photos of them. It's very far off the road and back on that farm. Do you have any more information about Montgomery or his wife? And do you have any information possibly about Alexander's real father? There seems to have been a big cover up about his father and the birth and all. Montgomery was his grandfather not his father.

Julie,
My Great Grandfather was Stephen Johnson Kinnaird. His father was John L. Kinnaird b: 1806 in TN and moved to Hempstead County around 1839. I think he must have had a family while in TN but left there "alone" to go to AR. No records showing why. The connection to OK. comes in when during the Civil War, John's daughter Amanda Drucilla or vise-versa got lost in our search. We have found records showing she could have married a man named Rhodes, moving with him later to Oklahoma. If you think your Theopolis may have been been a brother to John L. or any relation to John L. please write to me. My email is listed. Thanks

HI there, just saw your message on Burkit Kinnaird and his family. I have posted info on 1820 census on this board. I too have been researching this line and find more questions than answers. There is nothing documented anywhere that confirms that Birket is Montgomery's father, I am not sure where that got started at, but on 1820 census their children both are very close in age and even Birket and Montgomery fall into same age bracket which makes me wonder if they might be siblings or cousins? Also court records mention a Rapel M.Kinnaird, who is he and how is he related to this line? I have been looking at a Montgomery Kinnaird from West Chester, PA son of a William Kinnaird. I can not find any records for him there after a certain date which makes me wonder if he immigrated to TN and might be our ancestor? I f anyone has an info that might help please post to this message borad.
Thanks Sharon

This message is for Thomas Kinnaird, who posted a note May 24, 2005. Please contact me if you don't mind. I have heard nothing from you. There is just too much common ground in our Kinnaird names. Thanks,
Jane Ann Kinnaird Crone
Sapulpa Oklahoma November 18, 1907
Sapulpa claims the honor of the first child born in the state after the signing of the enabling act by President Roosevelt. Ten minutes after the signing of the proclaimation, Mrs. R. C. Kinnaird gave birth to a fifteen pound daughter, and the father, R. C. Kinnaird, says it is the largest girl ever born in Sapulpa. The mother and child are doing nicely and the citizens are arranging to raise a fund to present the young Miss with an appropriate present. Her photograph will be sent to President Roosevelt.

Daily Oklahoman - November 19, 1907

Hello I was wondering if anyone has any information on one of my ancestors his name was Montgomery Kinnaird he had a daughter named Mariah and I think that his wife was Sara or Sarah but I'm not positive about that one. He and his wife raised their Grandson Alexander as their own son after a family scandal that has been hidden for the most part. And if anyone has any information on that I would be soooooo thankful to know if it as well. Their daughter went on to marry and her married name was Mariah Bean. Thanks so much for any help it would be most appreciated.
