Re: William Kinser's children

I am hoping that you might have some info on a William D. Kinser born in IN. around 1839, who lived in Albia, Monroe Co., IA around 1870. He was wed to a Nancy J. also born around that year 1839. I have reason to belive he could be the father of Oliver Wilson born in 1871 , Albia IA. Oliver's mother was only 17 when she had him and they were never wed. Her name was Mary Jane Wilson. In the 1860 Census she is 6 and is on page 9 with her family, William is on page 12 with his wife. I only know what has been told that Oliver's father was much older and they weren't allowed to marry. My email is marlenefink@yahoo.com Thank you for all your help.

I went to school with Bobby and Rue Kinser and lived down the street form them, for a time Bobby was my best friend. Their parent's divorced, Angie was a beautiful woman. I remember Bobby said she married a truck driver and hit the road. I saw Bobby once as adults, he was geieving the loss of his wife who had committed suicide. As children they lived in a nice home set off in a wooded area. I believe thier dad was with Kraft Foods in Garland, Texas. Anyway, that's where I knew rthem from.

It appears that Elizabeth Kinser Frazier and George Kinser are half-siblings. Their father was married twice.

Found out more about this family if anyone would like info.
This is not my family. I'm doing a genealogy history of Laurel Twp.
George Kinser Hocking County Ohio

Found this record:

According to his obituary in the Logan Republican dated April 26, 1881, Robert McBroom was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, April 3, 1795. In fact, he was born in the area of Dutch Fork Creek in Washington County, Pennsylvania. His parents were not married and Robert was probably raised by his maternal grandmother ELIZABETH KINSER FRAZIER.

On 9 September 1798, the Fraziers sold their farm in Washinton County and moved to Pickaway County, Ohio, where Robert grew to adulthood.

On July 28, 1813, Robert and his uncle GEORGE KINSER enlisted in the militia company being raised in Ross and Pickaway Counties by Captain Adam Berry. This company was attached to the First Regiment under Colonel James Denny. He was mustered out on September 6, 1813, at Chillicothe, Ohio, this being the expiration of his enlistment. He was paid $10.63 for his service.

In 1815, Robert and George moved into what would become Laurel Twp., Hocking County. They settled next to the farm of Josiah Cantwell, and on April 23, 1816, Robert married Josiah's daughter Nancy.
Robert and Nancy would be together for the next sixty-four years, until Nancy died in 1880. They raised a family of fifteen children, fourteen of whom reached adulthood.

During his long life, Robert became the largest landowner in Laurel Twp. He served twenty-seven years as Justice of the Peace and six years as County Commissioner. During his term as Commissioner he superintended the construction of a new courthouse in 1839, to replace the log structure that had sufficed since the organization of the county in 1818. In 1829, the first school was established in Laurel Twp. and Robert was its first teacher.

Robert was a life long member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and was instrumental in establishing the first church in the township at a place called Hopewell. In 1837, the church was moved to the site of present day Gibisonville.

Politically Robert was probably a Whig early on, but became an enthusiastic Republican when that party formed about 1860.

Robert died at his home on April 23, 1881, and was buried in the family cemetery now called the McBroom Cemetery. He left ten surviving children, one hundred eight grandchildren, and fifty one great grandchildren.

So... Elizabeth Kinser Frazier had a daughter who met up with a Mr. McBroom, which resulted in Robert McBroom.
Mr. McBroom and Miss Frazier did not marry.

George would be his great uncle? Elizabeth's brother? Ugh... can someone figure it out?

Working on families of Laurel Twp. Hocking County Ohio.

Thank you,
Lorie Wylie

I am researching William M Kinser right now. He lived in Tennessee and moved to Texas with the AJ Kinser group. According to a lot of people's trees he is the son of George Kinser and Mary Ann Davis. But I can't find anything that is certain about this yet. 1870 Census shows him living near to George (who remarried? America Etter).

He is of interest for a couple reasons:

1. There was a marriage between a George Kinser and Mary Ann Davis in Wythe, Virginia, 13 Dec 1815. I'm not certain this is the same George who married America Etter in Tennessee 12 Feb 1823, in my tree. If William M is their son it would help me identify George with more certainty.

2. The other thing that is interesting is that I have located a couple of William M Kinser's children's Death Certificates and they list the mother's maiden name as Mariah Etter (like you have), but there are a number of trees that I have discovered that all list William's wife as Maria Ealy. One of them is wrong and I don't know which.

Any help?
Hi,

I am a third cousin. He is the son of Albert William Kinser and Evelyn M Dawson. Albert was the son of Lemuel C Kinser who was the son of William M Kinser, who was the son of George Kinser. I have a copy of John Douglas' Death Certificate if you are interested, but you can find it for free at familysearch.org.

This is a very intersting story for us Kinsers. He was written about in a book about LBJ and a conspiracy to kill JFK: Blood, Money & Power, by McClellan.

Lemuel Kinser

Hello, I'm stumped at finding out who Lemuel Kinser was married to (b 15 Jul 1861, Knoxville, TN; d 9 Apr 1953 buried in Brady, TX.) Through family records, I have Amelia Johansen as his spouse, but cannot find any information anywhere on her. Lemuel and Amelia had Albert Winston Kinser (my great-grandfather), who in turn had two sons, Albert Winston Kinser and John Douglass Kinser. Any help on place of birth, dates, parents, etc, would be most welcome! Thanks!

Hi Gary,
My name is Candace, and my father is Albert Winston Kinser (born 8 June 1948.) His father (my grand dad) was also Albert Winston Kinser, and the brother to Douglass. I'm sure you know that Douglass was shot at the golf course (which is now being run my my dad's ex-wife as a divorce settlement) on Lee Barton Drive. The bullet hole is still there...

Candace

Hi Gary,

No, I don't have any pictures but I will ask my dad when I am home in August if he has any. Yes, I have the book about LBJ - all very interesting, isn't it? The way that I have heard the story growing up is that Douglas Kinser and Mac Wallace were both seeing Josefa Johnson. There was a poker match -- I do know my granddad Winston (Douglas' brother) was a great poker player, so this doesn't surprise me -- and the bet was whoever 'won' got to keep Josefa... well, Douglas won, and went back to the golf course to get some money from the safe. Mac and his cronies followed him, shot him then drove off. A person at the golf course (in the parking lot outside of the clubhouse) heard the shots and called the police, reporting the license plate number. Wallace was caught within hours, and bail was posted. During the trial, my great-grandfather gave deposition (I should think this info is available somewhere).

I am sure there are photos of Douglas somewhere in the old photos I have. But, I also know that my grand-father was not known for his penchant to have his photo taken... so it may run in the family to his brother as well. I'll let you know if I find any.

Candace

Hello Deborah:

Welcome to the hard to find Ayers line.

I am the g-granddaughter of Clint and Nealey. I'd love to see pictures and different things you have. We can all help each other.

However, I can tell you for certain that Clint is NOT John Henry Ayers. Clint is Issac Clinton Ayers and he was married to Nealey Clementine Kinder. Ellen and I both have copies of his death certificate and census records from the time he was a baby.

Would you mind telling us your exact relationship to Granville?

Thanks so much.

Laura
