I am not actively participating at this time, but I do look at the message board occasionally.
I am descended from the Henry Kious line (ca. 1829 Wilson Co. TN). My great-great grandparents are Andrew Kious and Sarah LaChotte Kious, Galatia IL. I believe that Adam Lewis Kious is from a different line of Kious' -- John Kious of VA?
I do have quite a lot of information on the line and I would be happy to share if you wish.
Linda Kious Walston

I don't have much information on the Kious line. I am tracing the Bayles(s) line.
My notes (taken from census records) indicate the following
George Kious b. Mar 1851 in Inidana
married 1. Rebecca
2. Ida E Bayles b. Mar 10, 1861 Iowa
Children
1. Joseph M. Kious b. Mar 1886
m. Pauline b. 1896
(living in El Paso Colorado 1930
2. Wilbur O. Kious b. 1898
3. Willimette L. Kious b. 1896

______
That is all I have. I'd love to have more information about Ida's descendants and would be glad to share Bayles(s) data with Bayles descendants.

Best wishes on tracing your line.

MebbyB

Thanks so much contacting me. It is so nice to actually get an answer thru this link.

I think you could be right about Leora and Adeline being the same person. In one of the census taken when both Gertrude and Leora lived with their grandparents it is listed as Leora middle initial A.

I have only two pics of Adeline. I will need to find them and scan them into my system. I had to restore my computer back to its factory setup and have lost several things. But, will send them to you as soon as I can.

Deanna Biery Sunkes

He was renamed Neal Smith. My father who has been presumed dead is still living and would very much like to meet this brother if he is alive. All other siblings are gone. My father's name was Earl and he was the baby of the family. Any information would be appreciated.
My father's parents were George Delbert Jennings and Rhoda Pugh.

Rebecca Kious Roth - Indiana

Rebecca Kious was born February 8, 1853 to Milian Alkire and Nancy Fierce Kious of Brookston, Indiana. Rebecca was the third of eight children.

The 1860 Federal Census taken in White County, Prairie Township, Brookston, Indiana indicates that Rebecca was around 7 years old. The next census taken was the 1870 Federal Census dated 7/14/1870 from the same area. This census has Rebecca 17 years old living with John D. Cutter (Cutler) and family. Mr. Cutter had several laborers living at his residence Rebecca was listed as a domestic servant. Rebecca was pregnant with my great grandmother Adeline Kious. Adeline’s birthday is January 10, 1871.

In 1881, when Adeline was 10 years old her mother Rebecca married widower Daniel Roth of Dayton, Indiana. Daniel Roth had four children at the time of the marriage. Daniel and Rebecca would have two children of their own Elmer Clair and Harry Dale. Harry died at the age of 24 years, he is buried in the Dayton Cemetery along with Daniel and Rebecca. Elmer married Elda B Newhard and moved to Des Moines, Iowa. I have lost track of them.

The 1930 US Census indicates that Rebecca returned to Brookston and lived with her brother John T. Kious.

The 1860 Federal Census taken in White County, Prairie Township, Brookston, Indiana indicates that Rebecca's mother and father have two grandchildren living with them.
Gertrude Kious age 5 yrs b. 1875, and Leora A. Kious age 9 yrs b. 1871. There is some indication that these two children are also Rebecca's illegitimate children.

Gertrude married Frank Steel and listed her mother as Rebecca. I have no real documentation on this yet. They received their marriage license thru Lafayette, Indiana, Tippecanoe County. She and Frank moved to Illinois but returned to be buried in Dayton Indiana Cemetery.

I have no more information on her sister Leora.

I would like any information about Gertrude's sister Leora.

Deanna Sunkes

I believe my great grandfather Jesse was their son however have not been able to find any clues to prove this. Anderson was born before 1830, him and Ann were married around 1842 and my great grandfather Jesse was born in 1853. Jesse married Nancy Jane Prichard. The names and some of the dates came from my grandmothers family bible. Any help with this line would be greatly appreicated.

Steve, my grandmother was Pearl Kious, dau. of George Kious and Malinda Hedrick, g. dau. of Adam Kious Mgt. Hidy. I have some info. and photos about them. How are you related? . Would Pearl be a great aunt to you? Also, through a lucky fluke, I obtained the Hedrick Family Bible. If you email me at maryquintana@earthlink.net perhaps I can get your address and send copies of things that might interest you. Do you know if Lewis Kious (Pearl's brother) ever became lt. gov. of Ohio?

Hi Shirley - Unfortunately I have no genealogically accepted proof. What I do have is a lead. I have a copy of an undated letter written by Ruth Kious Wilch. She quotes from a book; "Hidy and related families" Aparently there were two books available from a Mr. Mrs. A. S. Hidy of Oakland, CA. The books were $3 each and took 30 cents postage to get to Topeka, KS. (So, this is not recent!and A.S. Hidy was 92 at the time) I tried the address in CA, thinking some family might reply, but no answer. Anyway. Mr. Hidy said that Adam was born in Rockbridge Co., VA and that his father's name was Nicholas Kious and his mother's name was Frances Valentine. Ruth Kious Wilch continues with other info. re: Adam's children and mentions letters, and a couple of which I have copies. If you email me at maryquintana@earthlink.net and give me your address, I'll gladly sent copies of what interests you.
