Have changed e-mail address and last name but still am researching the same people - Elizabeth Kipp wife of Leander Fullmer, daughter of Richard Titus Kipp. Have just found the terrific book on-line "Descendents of Isaac Kipp and Hannah Meed" and would love to connect with the author. I do have some additions and questions about the book.
Thank you,
Connie Fullmer
mentoringpeace@mac.com

Frank Irving Kipp b. 1890 and m. to Edna MacMullen b. 1897. Lived primarily in Wappingers Falls. Are tied in with the Whitney, Traver, Kimlin families. Doesn't appear to be a match unfortunately.

sounds like it could be the same one. He was b. 1895 and m. to a Pearl Myers. Myers is my husbands line. They had a couple of children also. The family also tied in with the last names of Bathrick and Pryor. How do you fit it with them?

Kipp Family Research

I have recently begun researching my Kipp Family line, and would like to verify the following Kipp line (I am a descendant of this line)

1-John Kipp b. abt. 1770 in Ny m. Lydia McPherson
2-William Kipp b. abt. 1794 in NY, Son of John and Lydia m. Rachel Mann
3-Thomas Kipp b. 1832 in Ontario, Canada, son of William and Rachel m. Rachel Ann Moore
4-Arthur b. 1861 in Ontario, Canada, son of Thomas and Rachel m. Ella Gillet
5-Ulrus b. 1888 in Michigan, son of Arthur and Ella

Ulrus is my great grandfather, I can see on his birth record and marriage records, that Arthur and Ella are his parents. I also see on Arthur's marriage record that Thomas and Rachel are his parents. After that, I come to the brick wall.

In the short time I have been researching, I see several trees where this is how the line goes, but I don't see any sources as to where this information came from. I would like to verify this information as much as I can before I publish this tree for my family, and any help as to where to find sources for this information would be greatly appreciated.

Kay

The William E. Kipp I believe I may be related to, from Dutchess Co. doesn't show having a daughter named Daisy. Also, if she were 14 in 1895, then born in 1880/81 William would've been 76 when she was born.

Also might want to try looking them up in Edward Kipp's PDF which he has assembled from many Kipp resources over the years. Easily the most comprehensive list of Kipp's from the Dutch/New Amsterdam line. Here is a link:

http://www.kipp-blake-families.ca/Ruloffkip.pdf

Kipp family of NY are my family. Try Dutchess county. They lived along the Hudson River, near what is now Newburgh, NY.
When we lived there, I didn't know it was land my people had settled. Try familysearch.org, the LDS site for some Kipp names. They were Dutch and settled in NY before the English arrived. How do you fit into the Willison family. My Rhoda Willison married Noah Whitehous Coffman in 1830 in OH. Iris

I grew up in Lewisville, NC. There was a boy there named Donnell Kipp who lived with his mother, Ruth Mills Kipp. He was younger than me by a year or so, and I was born in 1967. Donnell's mother was married to Donald Kipp, but they divorced when Donnell was young. I do not know the date. Ruth died when Donnell was a teen, and I have not been in contact with him since before then. However, I know he still lives in Lewisville, NC. Best of luck with your search!

Leonard Kipp is my great great Grandfather on my mothers side, he was born on Apr 12 in 1868 Rotenzimmern, Wuerttemberg, Germany. He was first a stowaway but then went home, came back and became a legal citizen. His father Andrew and mother Anna Seaman were both born in Germany. I would like to learn more about the Kipps in Germany but mostly more about Andrew Kipp and his ancestors. If anyone knows of a good source of information that would be great. Most of the sites I've been on that were any good were mostly in German and I can't speak it at all so a good English source would be even better. Thanks.

John Dennis Kipp b. 1855 NY?

Does anyone have any documentation regarding J.D. Kipp?
I found this reference on the Internet @ the LDS Family History Library Catalog:
Title
Kipp family, ca. 1670-1887
Stmnt.Resp.
J. D. Kipp
Authors
Kipp, J. D. (John Dennis), b. 1855 (Main Author)
Notes
Microfilm of photocopy of original holograph letter (4 leaves) donated by Ward A. Kipp, Rush, New York.
Contains genealogical information about the Kipp family from a letter written to an unknown person, probably a relative, by J. D. Kipp, perhaps of Walworth, New York, where he was born in 1855. The letter was probably written about the 1890s.
Jacobus Kipp emigrated from Holland, ca. 1670, and settled in New York City. His great great grandson, James Kip, was born in New York City in 1751, the son of Simeon Kipp. James was the father of twelve children, born 1774-1799, at New York City, Fishkill, New York, and Johnston, New York. His son, Peter Kipp, was born in 1879 in New York City. He married Harriet Conklin (1794-1829) in 1814. They had five children, 1815-1821, born a Pompey and Walworth, New York. He married 2) Prudence Aldrich Bonker, a widow with two two children, in 1830 at Newark, New York. They had three children, 1831-1834, all born at Newark. His son, Alonzo Kip (1816-1879), was born at Pompey, New York. He married Asenath Brown (1817-1860) in 1840. They had seven children, 1841-1860, born at Arcadia, Plmyra, and Walworth, New York. He married 2) Emily Price Mills (b. 1829), a widow with one child, in 1860. They had a son born at Walworth, New York, in 1871.
Subjects
Kipp
Format
Manuscript (On Film)
Language
English
Publication
Salt Lake City, Utah : Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1994
Physical
on 1 microfilm reel ; 35 mm.
Film Notes
Note - Location [Film]
Kipp family, ca. 1670-1887 - FHL US/CAN Film [ 1698059 Item 35 ]
© 2002 Intellectual Reserve, Inc.
Kip/Kipp/DeKype DNA project Jun 08 Update

There has been little/no action on the project since the first 4 people contributed. How about considering contributing your DNA sample? With the current price of gasoline/petrol, this project is not that expensive.
Here's the current status of the project:
We welcome all Kipp/Kip descendants (in the male line) to join the study to test the y-chromosome to help define the Kipp/Kip families located around the world.

One of the goals of the study was to determine how many founder Kip/Kipp families there are in the world. Thus far we have two distinct lines belonging to the haplogroups I and R in subclades I1b1 (I1b is now I1b1 by the International Society of Genetic Genealogy) and R1b1c .

A second goal of the study was to bring together the various branches of the Kip family that first settled at New Amsterdam (now New York City) in 1635. Three of the members of the Kipp DNA study have matched exactly on 12 markers. At 37 markers two members have matched 35/37. Mutations have appeared in the two fast moving markers CDYa and CDYb (red on the chart). Mutations in these two markers are quite common in family studies and often assist in separating descendant lines. One member of the study has a paper trail back to Hendrick Hendricksen Kip (b c 1600) and he is a descendant of Hendrick’s son Isaac Hendrickson Kip (b 10 Jan 1627). The two members who match 35/37 are at a minimum 7th cousins and to see the closeness of the match is quite intriguing.

Emigration and Census details for Kipp families

Denization was completed for the de Kype (Kip/Kipp) family line (that emigrated to New Amsterdam in 1635 from Leyden, Holland) in New York City following the successful British takeover in the 1660s.

In the 1700s there were three individuals who signed the Oath of Allegiance in Pennsylvania as new Kipp emigrants from Germany:

Michael Kipp departed 13 Oct 1749 from Rotterdam on the Lydia

Johan Henrich Kipp departed 1752 from Rotterdam on the Louisa

Johannes Kipp departed 3 Oct 1753 from Rotterdam on the Louisa

Kip(p) family of New York

The number of Kip/Kipp descendants of the New York family were numerous by the 1790 census and they are not listed here but a listing of the descendants of Hendrick Hendricksen Kip can be reviewed in a *.pdf file located on the Kipp DNA Study Administrator’s webpage <a href="http://ca.geocities.com/ekipp@rogers.com/kipfam.htm" target="_blank">http://ca.geocities.com/ekipp@rogers.com/kipfam.htm . For Kit #18407, his ancestor Isaac Kipp (b 1764) is likely listed on the 1790 census at Northeast Town, Dutchess County with his wife Hannah Mead living next door/with Jonathan Mead (her possible father). On the 1800 census (taken in August 1800) Isaac Kipp, his wife Hannah and four of their five sons are likely found at Rensselaerville and they are known to be in Upper Canada by October 1800 as they applied for land as settlers, were naturalized and their first daughter Elizabeth was born there in November 1800.

Census in Pennsylvania 1790

Henry Kipp, Donegal Lancaster PA – 3 males 16 and over and 2 females

Henry Kips, Dauphin PA – 2 males 16 and over, 1 male under 16 and 2 females

John Kip, Whitehall Northampton PA – 1 male 16 and over, 3 males under 16 and 3 females

John Kip, Mixed Township York PA – 1 male 16 and over, 3 males under 16 and 6 females

Family Tree DNA - Genealogy by Genetics, Ltd.
World Headquarters
1445 North Loop West, Suite 820 Houston, Texas 77008, USA
Phone: (713) 868-1438 | Fax: (832) 201-7147
Contact Us
All Contents Copyright 2001-2004 Genealogy by Genetics, Ltd.
Project Background, Goals, Results and News are copyright of the specific Surname Project
i am always on the lookout for (more) information on families connected to my Daniel Matthew Dean; I fell that I finally figured out that Benjamin L. is a son of my Daniel. I had to put it all away again, as I often do, for lack of more information to be found on internet, so anything you have to offer will help. Are you connected to Kipp and/or Dean or neither? I have found tidbits of information on Kipp but not sure it is correct and no way to get records to double check my research.
I do not "know" the Haywards or where they lived; all I know in connection to Dean-Kipp marriage is Ontario, Canada and I do not live in Canada.

Looking forward to more information and perhaps photos - always nice to be able to put faces with names, especially for those people that have given us a lot of questions but so few answers. Benjamin L. Dean has had a few of us puzzled for many years.

Elias Kipp

Still trying to figure out how our Elias Kipp, born 1856 in New York fits in to all these Kipps that have traced their ancestry back. In the 1860 census it states his Father is Jesse and his Mother is Delia. Another census I found says his name is Elias J.A. Kipp. Could that be John Abraham and did he not use his name Elias but maybe John??? Maybe thats why I'm having such a hard time??? Someone have any suggestions? Thanks so much!
