Amelius Kippen was the youngest son of George Kippen, a Captain of the Royal Navy and his wife, Julia Kippen (nee Grant) After the death of his father his mother came to Goderich Ontario with five of her sons and her oldest daughter who was married to a John Nairn. they were involved with the colonization organized by John Galt. Amelius was a law student and died when he was 31 . He was born the 27th of January 1826 in Stirling, Scotland and died the eighth of Dec 1857
