Looking for data on Civil War veteran Cyrus Kipple
who served with the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer
Infantry. The unit mustered in York in September 1861.
I am writing a history of the regiment and am seeking
firsthand accounts by the veterans. I am also building
a database of personal data on each soldier and need
your help in that huge task.

Kipple, Cyrus W., Pvt Co B; mustered Sept 14, 1861,as a
volunteer; discharged Oct 13, 1864; born Nov 14, 1841;
died June 11, 1930; a carpenter from Harrisburg;
wounded in the left eye at Weldon Railroad June 23, 1864;
son of German-born Jacob Elizabeth Kipple; Jacob's
siblings: Sarah Joseph; married Rebecca A. Bollinger
(b. 08/23/49 in Mt. Union; d. 08/01/32) October 14, 1864,
in Altoona, Pennsylvania (Jacob had lived there sometime
between 1850 - 1860); children: Dollie [Mary?]
(b. 09/30/67), Hannah Kennedy (b. 09/08/67), Minnie M.
(b. 01/06/72) married Walter Teter), and Edward L.
(b. 06/04/76); as of 1870, they lived in Altoona; in 1900,
they lived in Kansas City, Missouri, and moved to Chicago
until 1926 when they moved to Los Angeles at 4709 W.
Washington Blvd, where they both died (buried in Rosedale
Cemetery); birth date also reported as November 10
