Thomas M. Kirby, 91, of Perrysville died at noon Tuesday at the Carroll County Hospital, where he had been admitted Saturday after suffering a stroke. Born July 7, 1874, in Perrysville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Susannah (Lawyer) Kirby. A retired county and state highway department employee, Mr. Kirby had lived most of his life in Carroll County.
For 30 years prior to 1943, he was assistant postmaster at Perrysville (Lamartine). Mr. Kirby was a member of Perrysville Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Surviving are three nieces, Mrs. Grace Muze of Rt. 2, Scio, Mrs. Helen Eick of Rt. 4, Carrollton, and Mrs. Anna Cogsil of Perrysville, and a nephew, Joe Galbraith of Pittsburgh. Five brothers and five sisters are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Allmon Funeral Home here with Rev. Clarence T. Berry officiating. Burial will be in the Perrysville EUB Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday.
