Hi Mary,
I think maybe I have this messaging figured out now.
My mother's maiden name was Helen Delois Boyd. She was born in 1922 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and passed away in 1969.
FYI your great-great grandfather was William Kirk. He was 30 years old in 1870, the year that Wiley was born. William was the sheriff of Jackson County Alabama. Wiley was born in Scottsboro. I have a list of Wiley's siblings at home somewhere. I will try to get to you.
William Kirk, the sheriff, was born in 1840. Unfortunately, I believe that was the census that was destroyed by fire, so I have never gone back any further.
Wiley's wife was Barbara Neuman or Newman - I not sure on the spelling. All of their boys, including your grandfather, looked like Wiley, except for Uncle George who took more after the Newman's.
We have had a family reunion almost every year for the past 20+ years. Unfortunately, a lot of people have died since it began, so it has dwindled down considerably. My cousin Tom, George's son, was one of the driving forces that put these together. Tom died three years ago.
