Funeral services were held at 11 O'clock Wednesday Morning if St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Mrs. Josephine Clarice Kirk, who died at her home in LaGrande, Oregon, May 23, at the age of 89 years.
Josephine Conoyer was born at Salem, Oregon, January 23, 1859. She spent of her childhood in Umatilla County, Oregon. After her marriage she lived with her husband in Columbia County but moved away from here a number of years ago.
Survivors are three sons: Herman Kirk, Wallowa, Oregon; Ray Kirk, Cayuse, Oregon; and Dewey Kirk,
Four daughters: Mrs. Olive Bonifer, La Grande; Mrs. Elmer Taylor, Colbert; Mrs. Edmond Walker, Pasco; and Mrs. Free Carathe, The Dalles, Oregon; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Taylors had more money than the Kirks. Elmer George Taylor was so "mean" and a drinker and a trouble maker so his family bought him a farm at Jerome,Idaho. Francine states that he didn't understand irrigation farming so he sold the farm and bought a farm out of corral , Idaho. that is an Area known as the Prairie. It was dry wheat farming.
In 1932 Moses Taylor, Elmers father died and he inherited a farm at Green Bluff, WA. My aunt Francine told me the story of their moving from the Camas Prairie to Green bluff. They made the journey in a farm wagon pulled by a team of horses. They camped along the way. She said going down the Mountain grade into was Scarry. Then going up the other side.
