Lived around Parramatta, Hawkesbury.
childern were Thomas, Ellen and Catherine.
The name of their children may assist in finding ancestors in Ireland.

MOLINE, Ill. - Thomas J. Kirk, 59, Moline, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Mr. Kirk was born June 3, 1947, in Baltimore, Md. He married Kathy Proctor on Oct. 6, 1995, in Rock Island, Ill.

He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years, having served two terms in Vietnam on the USS Boston CAG1.

He was employed by Wacken-hut Security at John Deere Corporate Headquarters, Moline.

He enjoyed watching sports on television.

Survivors include his wife Kathy; sons, Brian Kirk, Portland, Ore. and Sean Kirk and wife Missy, stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; step daughters, Monica Connor and husband Jody, Muscatine and Holly Gauthier, Colfax, La., and Marsha Bellinger, at home; step sons, Russell Bellinger, Moscow, Ia., Scott Bellinger, Milan and Dustin Bellinger, Elpaso, Texas; three grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren; brothers, William Patrick Kirk and wife Jean, East Moline, Ill. and a sister, Christine Gehrung and husband Mark, West End, N.C.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - On Friday September 26, 2008, Rodney Dale Kirk Sr. went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2008, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev. Art Cutshall of the Muscatine Baptist Chapel will officiate. Casket bearers will be Les Kirk, Rodney Kirk Jr., Gary Martin, Nathan Kirk, Marvin Smith, Korie Gafeller, Jim Vargus and Don Carroll. Honorary bearers will be Little Les Kirk, Damian Kirk, Aarin Gafeller, Misty and Ben Taylor, Brandon Bargar, Lucas Bargar, Corey Phillips, Lisa Rundall and Terri Logan. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis community room.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2008, at the funeral home.
Rodney was born August 12, 1956, in Muscatine, the son of William H. and Lenora Vargus Kirk. He married Mary Tobias on August 16, 2003, in Muscatine.
He worked for Daufeldt Transport as a commercial driver. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool and darts, fishing, hunting and running. Rodney loved animals.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Kirk of Muscatine; two sons, Rodney Kirk Jr. and his wife, Missy, and Nathan Kirk, all of Muscatine; his daughter, Heather Gafeller and husband, Gary, of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Damian Kirk and Korie and Aarin Gafeller; his mother, Lenora Kirk of Muscatine; two brothers, Leslie Kirk and his wife, Teresa, and Gary Martin and wife, Karen, all of Muscatine; a sister, Julie Bargar and husband, Jason, of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Cecilia Kirk dob 1907 Stirling Scotland sent to Dr Guthres girls school Edinburgh abt 1916,then down to Glasgow working at David Elder Hospital as a domestic.
On the 15 June 1934 sailed from Glasgow to Qubec then on to Hamilton Ontario passenger no 39001 aboard the Athenia Ancor Line.From there I can find nothing,I am hoping she married and had a good life.She was my grandfathers sister.

DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of eight soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died Oct. 3 in Kamdesh, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their contingency outpost with small arms, rocket-propelled grenade and indirect fires. They were assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

Killed were: (see link for complete release)

Sgt. Joshua J. Kirk, 30, of South Portland, Maine.

i know that alfred and his wife lived in huntsville alabama
somewere in the lat 1940's and 50's he had a son name
alvin lee kirk he and my grandmother was together in the 40,'s and 50's they had a little girl that past away in 1950 she was 7 month old her name was julia ann kirk what im trying to find info on alvin lee kirk i cant find anything about him except he was listed as the father of my aunt i dont think he and my grandmother was married.my grandmother past away when my mother was 5 so on this part right here im working on hardly nothing.anything would help

I am stuck on trying to trace my family tree in Cambridge.
I am trying to find information on a William Gant Hall Kirk, who married an Alice Chapman. I know Alice was alive from c.1883 until 1971, William I don't know about. I am told by my family they had 12 or 13 children, but they can only recall names of 5 or 6, one being my grandfather, Gilbert Kirk. Others include Keith, Edward, Rodney, Alfred and Margaret that I know of. Is anyone able to help?

Kirks in Lauderdale County Alabama

I trace my roots through Kirks that lived briefly in Lauderdale County, Alabama. Allen Louis Kirk was married in Lauderdale County to Elizabeth Ross(on) and moved to McNairy County, Tennessee. He was last known to be in DeSoto, County, Mississippi. Many of his children migrated to Prairie County, Arkansas.

My father was a Kirk of Kentucky, Flemingsburg, KY. He stated that back in his family someone changed the name from Kirkpatrick to Kirk. Could you share any information. His father was Jesse H. Kirk abt 1871, his father was Leroy D Kirk 1841. That's all I can offer. MY father Arthur Kirk was born 1897.

Kirk family crest/Clan info. needed

I've seen different family crests for the Kirks on-line, but don't understand how you know which one is the authentic one. Also, went to a Scottish gathering yesterday and was informed that the Kirks are part of the Maxwell clan. Anyone have info. on how that transpired? I'm just getting into all this.

Denise: My records show Camden R. Kirk b. 3/5/1847 d. 3/19/1885 m. Virginia C. Birkhead 10/5/189 at Daviess, KY. Camden's father was William Kirk b. 4/13/1807 in Orange Co. NC and d. 9/12/1880 in Owensboro, Daviess, KY. William m. Susan Ann Bassett 12/13/1831 in Indiana. For years I have not been able to find out who William's father was. Let me know if you learn anything more. Do you have any descendants of Camden's to share?

The photos are from Monbrief near Lurgan Co. Armagh N. Ireland. The original house was thatched when built in the 18th century.

My Fathers name was Sherman Kirk and my Grandfathers name was Melvin Kirk. My Grandmothers name was Rachel Kirk and in the 1930 census they were recorded as living in Wayne Co, Wv.

She was born in Ohio about 1802. I have else on her background. She married a Rev. Levi Boyd Brown who who was born in Allegheny Co, PA. They later moved to Indiana. I have info from there on.

OK I found obit for Thomas Kirk Sr. He died 1941 in Buffalo. According to 1st wife Josephine's obit in 1925 & census, she and Thomas had 4 children: Milton, Lenore, Thomas, Adelaida (1899-1913). There is another Thomas Kirk in Buffalo too - could be that is your gr-grandfather.

I am the daughter of Pauline Youngblood Kirk. She was Lucille's sister. They are both deceased but we would like to find any information you might have on their father. He was married to Myrtle Burgess. Pauline was born in 1918 and Lucille was born in 1920 both in Texas. Both are buried in Oklahoma. Myrtle went on to marry Robert L Estep and had 10 more children. Earl's parents all lived in Tahlequah.

Zachariah was born c 1848 in Philadelphia. he died 17 feb 1939 in Philadelphia. c 1868 he married a Margaret K [Unknown], who was born c Summer 1848 in PA, died between 1920-1930.

They had 12 known children, all b PA:
Lillie E, b c 1869
George R, b c 1872
Fannie E, b c 1874 (marr Mark Landgran? hard to read census)
Charles Osmond, b c oct 1876
Alfred E, b c 1877
Mary Gertrude, b c mar 1879
Elaine? (census hard to read), b Jan or Jun c1881
Howard B, b c 1883
Stanley, b c dec 1884
Francis D, b c dec 1886
Elsie viola, b 4 sep 1888 Philadelphia, d Jun 1974 prob MA
Theodore J, b c apr 1891
possibly another child that died young as well.

Charles married bet 1892-1910, unknown wife that died bef 1910, had a son Raymond b c 1893 PA.

Theodore married a Mabel, b Nebraska, bet 1910-1920

Elsie married Charles Frederic Kemp of Nahant, Mass, c apr 1910 in Philadelphia. I don't yet know of any children that they may had.

I do not know anything of Zachariah's parentage, nor specific dates on any not listed. I don't really know much abt research in PA, so I could use some help.

The Kirk family only was part of the Maxwell's due to losing track of their cheiftan. Originally they were their own clan at least that is my understanding from reading and talking with some people who research the family.
