      <description>Noreen Jane (Kirkner) Dornbrock, 83 &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;ROANOKE, VA. – Noreen Jane (Kirkner) Dornbrock, 83, formerly of Poland, Ohio passed away July 22, 2009, in Roanoke, Virginia.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Noreen was born Aug. 22, 1925, in Youngstown, Mahoning county, Ohio a daughter of William J. and Mary McPike Kirkner. She was raised in Youngstown and moved to Poland, Ohio in 1955. Noreen moved to Roanoke and Our Lady of the Valley in 2004. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A 1943 graduate of Chaney High School, Noreen received her Bachelors in Communication and Theater from Ohio University in 1947. She worked for WKBN Radio and TV for seven years, before moving to Poland in 1955.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Noreen was active in many community organizations. She served as clerk to the Poland Zoning Commission beginning in 1969, also as clerk to the Poland Township Board of Zoning Appeals beginning in 1971. She was past president of the Youngstown Alumni Chapter of Chi Omega Sorority, Trailwood Gardeners, Friends of the Poland Library, and was active or held offices in the following; AFS Poland Adult Chapter, Poland Swim Club (one of the first 100 families), Youngstown Pan-Hellenic Assn., Catholic Collegiate Assn., Women’s Guild of the Youngstown Playhouse, Poland Township Historical Society, Friends of American Art and Docent at the Butler Institute, Youngstown-Warren Chapter of the Ohio University Alumni Assoc., Carnival Dance Club, Ohio Genealogical Society Mahoning and Trumbull County Chapters, Board of the Youngstown Civic Theater, Poland High School Boosters Club, Y-Neptune Swim Club at the Youngstown YMCA, several bridge clubs and Poland Community groups and a member of the Institute of Learning and Retirement at YSU. Noreen was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland, Ohio.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Her husband, Cecil Harmon Dornbrock, whom she married Aug. 28, 1948, died Dec. 1, 1997.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She leaves three children, Mary Kay Brown of Roanoke, Deborah (Mark) Costello of Castle Rock, Colo. and David C. (Kim) Dornbrock of Battle Ground, Wash.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Besides her parents, Noreen was preceded in death by her brother, Norbert Kirkner; and her sister, Janet Dunn.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Poland.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A reception for family and friends will follow the Mass at the Becker Family Center located at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Noreen’s family request that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Friends of the Poland Library or the Youngstown Playhouse.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Please visit &lt;a href="http://www.beckerobits.com" target="_blank"&gt;www.beckerobits.com&lt;/a&gt; to send condolences.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>

      <title>OBIT~Joseph Palmer Kirkner, Jr.~Chester County, PA</title>

      <description>Joseph Palmer Kirkner, Jr., 80, of Downingtown, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, in his home, which he built in 1958.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Joseph is survived by his wife, Myrtle Marie Ward Kirkner, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Born and raised in Malvern, he was the son of the late Joseph Palmer and Marjorie Kirkner McIntyre, and was one of eight children.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Joseph was a respected master carpenter his entire professional life.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He served in the Navy with the Seabees as a seaman first class during World War II. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, and was awarded the Pacific Theatre ribbon, American Theatre ribbon and the Victory Medal.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Surviving, besides his wife, are children, Barbara Combs, wife of Grant of Honey Brook, Joseph III, husband of Patricia of Downingtown, Kenneth of Honey Brook, Jeffrey, husband of Mary of West Chester, Carrie Pike, wife of Daniel, and Melissa Werner, wife of Walter, all of East Earl; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was preceded in death by two grandsons, John F. Shank and Grant J. Combs.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Joseph was a kind, proud and quiet man who applied these qualities in every endeavor of his life.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A longtime Episcopalian, Joseph was a former member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of West Whiteland and a current member of the Episcopal Church of Trinity, Coatesville.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In addition to being a loving father and grandfather, he was an avid bowler, belonging to many leagues, a dedicated gardener and experienced hunter.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Joseph was also a life member at the Thorndale Fire Company and a member of VFW Post 845, Thorndale.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Ralston &amp;amp; Bredickas Funeral Home, 107 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, at 11 a.m.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Interment will be private.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Episcopal Church of the Trinity, 323 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA 19320.&lt;br&gt;</description>
