I hope you are still around. I am a Kirk. Email me back and I will tell you how I am connected to Samuel of Brunswick and Mecklinburg.

I am interested in your information. However I cannot give you much on Samuel.

I descend through his son William who married Jane Arnold and his grnadson William.

It is a possibility that surnames Newton and Spencer are related as well.

Kirk, Kirks, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas

Looking for information on gg Grandfather John Gregg Kirks, born abt 1804,VA; died 1879 Maury County, TN. Married gg Grandmother Martha Shores Westmoreland, born abt 1809, Dinwiddie, VA; died 1849 Maury County, TN. Part of my confusion lies in "Kirk" and "Kirks". My ggrandfather John N Kirk (AR)took the last name "Kirk," but some siblings kept "Kirks," i.e. a sibling, William R Kirks (AR) and son John P Kirks (Olathe, CO)." Tweak in memories?
Also: My grandfather told me that John Gregg's father's first name was Jack, and that he was from N. Ireland. Does anyone have any information to help? My grandfather, JE Kirk (AR, AZ), also told me that Jack was Masonic (I assume Orange?) and was told to leave the family lands...coming to VA with two other families. Any similar stories?

Richard

DATA: Kirks, John Ross listed in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Kirks, John Ross (Tootie)

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Hi. As I was searching Oklahoma census,1920,for McClain County,I searched other Kirk surnames in that area and came across the name of Stella Kirk, father John Kirk. I was curious about John Kirk and family myself. My grandfather was Elisha Mansco Kirk, born Dec. 5, 1911, at Grant,Oklahoma. His father is William Earnest Kirk, born Dec.13,1877,Cannon County,Tenn. He married Ida Lee Hardin, daughter of John and Susan Jane Moore Hardin. Williams father is Samuel A. Kirk, born April 17,1844,Tenn., and his father was William Kirk, born approx. 1898,Tenn., his wife unknown. William and Ida are found in the 1910 census of Perry,Oklahoma. They stayed until roughly 1928 or 32 and moved to Colorado My aunt Lydia Mae sent info and am sure that there was referance to a Stella Kirk.If any thing sounds familar, sure would love to hear from you. Thanks! Jane P.S. Samuel Kirk was married to Sallie Mullins,of Tenn. She had been married to a John Webb prior to marriage with Samuel.

I have been looking for my ggrandmother. Her name was Elizabeth Ann (Allie) Keith Kirk Rowell. Bob Rowell was killed in Texas and the family story is that Elizabeth moved to Bossier City, La., Supposedly her sister was married to a Turner and they ran a boarding house there. I have never found anything to verify this. I know I have some Turner cousins. Recently I found an article that stated that Elizabeth had married a Turner.

Walter Kirk

I am trying to find information on my great grandfather Walter Kirk. He married Lillian Hatley from Tennessee. They had a daughter, my grandmother, Elizabeth Nadine Crotts (Kirk). She is still alive in Arkansas. If anyone can tell me about my family history, it would be appreciated. I believe that Lillian Hatley had twin sisters named Annie and Fannie.

Kirks of Mecklenburg/Lunenburg/Brunswick Co, VA

In researching the Bowen family of Lunenburg/Mecklenburg, I found found a close association with the Kirks family. William Bowen Sr deeded land "for affection" to Samuel Kirks at the same time that he deeded land to two sons. It is very likely that Samuel Kirks' wife was a daughter of William Bowen Sr. The Bowens and Kirks lived near George Vaughan, son of James Voughn of Brunswick Co. James Voughn's will named an heir Winnie Curcks although her relationship wasn't stated. Would like to untangle these Kirks/Bowen/Vaughan relationships.
