Does anyone have info on a Mattheus Kirman Jr. b. about 1862 in Kehl, Baden, Germany or his wife, Anna Maria Geyler of the same place? Down through the years, my branch of the family (actually my husband's) changed the spelling to Carmen. From what I can glean, two or three generations down the road the family came to NY and then on to Matilda, Dundas, Ontario, Canada. Through various marriages, my direct line eventually left Canada and came to South Haven, Van Buren Co., MI. Many of their descendants still live there.

As an aside, after reading the other posts I also found it interesting that sometimes the name Kirman was spelled Kermeens, as my maiden name was Creameans (spelled every possible way you can imagine!). My grandfather always said his ancestors came from Germany, but we've never been able to trace them very far.
