Information about Bourbon Co. Kiser's

Im really interested in my family history.

My great great grandmother was "Mama" Kiser, and her husband was "Daddy" Goble or Gobel. (Im not sure on their first names or even if Goble/Gobel was his last name.) My great grandmother was Lillian Kiser, later changed to Rizzardi as she married an italian man named Florio Rizzardi. Her living sister is Thelma Flannery (i believe her maiden name is Kiser as well), i know of her having a deceased sister who died when she was young of burns, Ruth Kiser i believe it is. I am pretty sure she had many brothers; Joe, Don & Jimmy Kiser. There may be others but i cant remember them at this time. My grandmother is Phyllis Hanley (Franklin being her maiden name, Lillian & her father were not married i dont think). They now lived in Lexington Ky. My father is John Eric Bealle.

Thats really all i know. I want information about the family of Kiser's, their history & i long to know what Mama & Daddy's real names were. In Paris Ky, bourbon co, there used to be a street named Kiser street or lane because we owned all the land. Please if you know any information, reply & help me out.

Obit - Alvah Mason "Al" Kiser Jr. - Council, Va

Kiser Jr., Alvah Mason "Al"

REDDING, Calif. — On April 16, 2009, Al Kiser completed his long 83 year journey thru life. Born February 1, 1926 in Council, Va. he entered into brief rest in Redding, Calif. before beginning his next and last eternal journey thru life everlasting with his Lord and Savior.Born the youngest of 10, humbly but blessed, he began a journey that took him to many of the far reaches of our world, including the South Pacific during World War II to fight for the country he loved. After returning from the war Al went on to earn a masters degree in engineering at George Washington University. That degree led him thru a career in aerospace engineering; yes he was a rocket scientist, which included over 10 years with Lockheed Missiles and Space Company and a position of senior engineer. Growing up the youngest of ten Al, also known by many as June, was blessed with a wonderful mother Mary L. (Hale) Kiser and his nine siblings who all raised him after his father Alvah "Alvie" Mason Kiser, Sr. died while he only four years of age. With his oldest sibling, brother Walter, being 25 years older, he also grew up with many of his nephews close to him in age and some in relationships as well. One of the passions that followed Al thru his life was fishing. He loved fishing the many streams and lakes in the mountains of California, near Yosemite, and across the country. He also loved to play "knock" gin with his son Mark and daughter Susan, even "allowing" them to win occasionally.Al left many behind who's lives he touched in many different ways: his children, Jonathan "Jon" Kiser of Tucson, Ariz., Donna Mohamadi and her husband Mehran of South Pasadena, Calif., Mary Noel and her husband Brad of Walnut Creek, Calif., Mark Kiser and his wife Valerie of Lodi, Calif., and Susan Guiton and her husband Mark of Redding Calif.; loving stepdaughter, Sandy Hatton and her husband Mike of Yakima, Wash.; and stepson, John Girod of Fremont, Calif.; as well as his 12 loving grandchildren. He also left behind his precious twin sisters, Faye and Gaye; several nephews and cousins who were very special to him including Harry Neller of Fredricksburg, Lanny Sparks of Dublin, Va., and Carnese Hale of Honea Path, S.C., plus many others.Precededing him in passing were his parents, Alvah "Alvie" Mason and Mary (Hale) Kiser; and seven of his siblings, Walter, Martha, Cora, Grayce, Gladys, Grady and Carter. All who knew Al and his family are invited to a time of memorial celebration in Council, Va. on October 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Corinth Baptist Church. The Rev. Dax Bostick and the Rev. Larry Burton will be officiating. In memoriam all are encouraged to support your local hospice who were so helpful and comforting in Al's final moments insuring dignity and grace until his final moment here with us.Allen and Dahl Funeral Home of Redding, Calif. is in charge of arrangements. To leave personal condolences online, visit www.legacy.com
Published in the Bluefield Daily Telegraph on 10/1/2009
Most people believe Kiser is a German name. There is a David and Dica (maybe a nickname for Bodica) listed in the Carter County, Ky 1880 census. He was a farmer born in Virginia in 1954. The children listed at that time were Albert ,Thomas ,Rosa ,and Lizzie. I don't know if this your family or not, they're not in my direct line.
The Russell County, Va and Carter County, Ky. have pretty good genealogical info here's the Russell County link
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~varussel/

I found these sites that has some interesting info,
http://mark.kiser.googlepages.com/

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jvoyles/
good luck!!

David,

It appears that you have research this Kiser family extensively. I believe that I am connected and offer this information. Perhaps you may find it beneficial and have some further info for me.

When John Jones died in Bourbon in 1790, the four people who witnessed his will were Christopher and Susanna Keiser, Hezekiah Speaks, and James Green. I believe that the Christopher was Stopel Sr and that perhaps John’s wife Susanna Jones was his daughter. Three decades later, two of John Jones’ son migrated into early Marion Co, MO. I found in the records of Marion Co where “Christopher Keiser” married in 1828. And in Will Book A, I found that this same “Christopher Keiser” died in 1831. He requested that Willis Green and another person help is wife. Again, I believe that this Christopher Keiser was related to the one in Bourbon and was probably a cousin to the Jones’ brothers.

Seeking the roots of John Jones, I have researched extensively into collateral lines. The allied families to the children of John are the Tucker-Speaks-Robertson group who came originally from Maryland. The Tucker info says that they were led by “old man Kiser.” Through three sources, I know that (1) John’s brother Jacob lived in Westmoreland Co, PA for a period, (2) that the elder Tucker sent back to Westmoreland for one of his sons to join them in Bourbon, and that (3) there were Kiser’s in Westmoreland. Also, one of John’s sons married into the Hinkson-Anderson families who definitely came via Westmoreland where they served in the Rev War. I also know that Jacob Kiser signed security for the guardianship of John Jones’ minor children. A further clue is that John and Susanna named their first child Christianna.

I hope some of this collateral info will provide you some new info and further clues. And I hope that you may have further info for me.

Judy
judyth_jones@yahoo.com

Kiser was the first white settler of Brown township Miami County. I am a decendant of John & Barbara's youngest son Joseph C. Kiser born 1831. My uncle has done a great deal of research and I'm just trying to add to his research. My Uncle has researched the family back to Germany if this is the same family. It appears Isaac also had a sister Rebecca - born 1827.

Your post is old so I don't know if you are still researching. My dad was James Winifred Kiser, born in Alabama. His father was John Wesley Kiser who was married 3 times.I never knew my grandparents. My father had a brother Herman. He also had 3 sisters and 2 brothers from his dads 2nd and 3rd marriages. My father and Herman have passed away, but some of the other siblings still live in Alabama. I won't go into anymore details now but unless anyone responds.

Noah Winthrop Kiser - Russell CO, VA

I have been unable to locate any information on the marriage of Noah Winthrop Kiser and Elizabeth "Bettie" Turner. My best guess is that they were married before 1890 in Russell County, VA. Does anyone have any information on this?
