I am related to Frederick and Rhoda through their son John Henry. The father of our Frederick who was born in Maryland I believe was also named Frederick Kisner. There is a family rumor that he was a Hessian soldier. We know from the Frederick and Rhoda census info that our Frederick's father was born in Germany and his mother in England.
Frederick Kisner appears on the 1790 census in Berks Co.
PA Cumru Township along with some other men who are listed on the Hessian site as being Hessian soldiers. The family seems to have then moved to Allegany Co. Maryland and later Monogalia Co. W. VA.

Hello
My husband is related to the Kisners. Frances (Fanny) Kisner born March 1794 in PA. Married Josiah Warren. Moved to IN, but they married 1817 in Stark County Ohio and had many children there. I do not know the father of Frances or siblings. Also the Sickman family is connected to my husband's family. Elizabeth Sickman b.1780 married Joseph Buckmaster b. abt. 1774. They lived in Ohio also. Father of Elizabeth I think is George who died 1817 in PA
Sue

I am working on the Kisner family for my daughter in law who is descended through the Frederick Kisner line. She is from Camp County Tx family who came from Alabama by way of Illinois. Mike Kisner, son of Daniel, son of Frederick son of Frederick? is her line. Any help would be appreciated. Up until now, and she is in her 30s she has little family knowledge of here ancestors. Her father died two years ago and her mother knew little of the Kisners. Do reply and I will be grateful.
I am interested in copies of any Kisner documents from Alsace Lorraine area. I may get to go there and don't want to hunt things someone else has already found. Family rumor is there a Kisner museum in that area. Have checked "museums of the world" type books and don't find it. Will look up exact requests. First is Peter around 1630 but lots of gaps; hope to fill some of them. Grace in AK gratron@yahoo.com

Do you or do you know who has actual document copies from Strassbourg or nearby? I may travel to the area and don't want to spend time getting what someone else has already found. One researcher claims a coat of arms; where are those recorded? Provided of course it is not one of the made up ones you can order for a fee. Thanks for any ideas. Grace in AK Is Taylor a county in WVA? In what town is the burial and are there tombstone pictures?

All three family names are well know in Maryland, specifically Garrett county. This Kisner line has been hard to trace due to the fact that Jemima 1846-1889 died and the younger children were farmed out to other family members both Kisners and Enlows. Can you help me?

I would suggest looking at the Barbour County 1860 census under Elias KISNER, b 1825, son Of Samuel L KISNER, b 1776 and of Monongalia County and the mystery of from whence came Samuel Robey KISNER will be solved. If this is not so, please sight your logic tied to facts otherwise. I, for one, would really like to see this resolved so we can move on to some other really tough problems in this family.
Best wishes,
Jim

There is a Frederick KISNER and his family in the 1850 census for Marion County. I list them here. I have no idea how they relate to the Samuel L KISNER family. Ther is similarly a Henry KISNER family as well. I have often wondered if there was a first marriage for Samuel L before Mary Wooget, and these were sons from that first marriage. Any comments. Let's pool our efforts and solve.
Jim

1850 Marion Census
KISNER, Frederic 43
Rhoda (Williams) 44
John H 21
Nancy 19
Harrison 17
Sarah 14
William 11
Elizabeth 9
James 7
Daniel 4
Louisa 2

1850 Monongalia Co Census
KISNER, Henry 48
Amelia 38
John 16
Theopolis 12
Elizabeth 7
Nancy 5
Sarah 2
Reuben 2months

Also of interest is Ashford KISNER, age 22, listed with Jacob KISNER, age 51 and Samuel, age 30, in Hampshire County. Many researchers have included Ashford as a son of Samuel, born in 1828. (including Ms Wellner). I think it is well established by several official records that Allen Henry, b 1828 was Samuel L's son. It is possible that he and Ashford were twins but doubtful. Ashford may well be Jacob's son and it is possible that the Hampshire County KISNER's are descendents from the same heritage. Just speculation - not meant to get anyone upset.
Jim

My Kisner ancestry lived in Lewis County, NY from early 1800's to about 1850's. We do not know any farther back than abt 1790 when my great great grandfather, John Kisner, was born.He married in the late 1830's to Eletha Gilbert. They had 2 sons, Isaac N. and John Martin Kisner.
John Kisner served with the 18th Inf. of Wisconsin during the Civil War, was mortally wounded at the battle of Corinth, and died about 1 month later, May 30,1862 in St.Louis,MO. I notice in the census records there was a William Kisner living in the same township,Lewis Cty,NY at the same time that John was there so more than likely were related. This man was 30+ yrs older than John, possibly his father. Do you have the names of the 10 sons & 1 daugher you referred to in your info?

Hi,
My name is Joanie Phillips. I am a descendant of Frederick and Rhoda Kisner. His father also was named Frederick Kisner and is the Hessian soldier. I found him on the 1790 census in Berks Co. Cumru township and later in Allegany Co. Md. I believe he had a son James who married into the Spessart family and our Frederick who married Rhoda Williams(her father was Henry Williams, a revolutionary war patriot. There are 17 pages of info on him in Heritage Quest related to his war pension.)I think there was also a brother Henry who married Amelia. They are on the 1850 W. Va. census. The names of the children are remarkably similar. Both families have a Nancy, Sarah and Elizabeth. I suspect these may be the names of the females in the Frederick the Hessian's family. I do not know the wife's name only that she was born in England.

Hello,
I know this is a shot in the dark here, however I am researching the Kisner line in Wv. I'm looking for an Ezra O. Kisner, and you had mentioned in one of your posts that you are related to a Charles H. Kisner. Charles Kisner was my great great Grand father. Another interesting thing is I noticed your last name is Reed. Ezra's Grand mother and great grand father on his grand mother's side are Reed also. Just wondering if there may be a connection there.
Thank You
Chris Kisner
