It has been a couple of years since I posted anything concerning our Benjamin Kitchens, b: 1780-82, various records give different age. He says he was born in GA according to census records. We have no records of him prior to the War of 1812 other then a son,William J. was born in TN ca; 1810. He served during the War under Capt James Merriweather's CO of Riflemen, GA Malitia. He was listed as Fifter for Capt. John G. Smith's Co. He traveled from his home in Milligeville, GA to Fort Hawkins, now Hawkinsville, GA. He served from Dec. 1814 to Feb. 1815. One term in place of an Eli Kitchens. We have researched the family of Eli Kitchens and several of his brothers thinking our Benjamin might be from this family, no luck. He received Bounty Land in Attala CO, MS 1851 after applying for it in Leak CO, MS. This land grand became effective after his death in 1850.
Known children of Benjamin and unknown wife,
William J. 1810 TN
Joanah Rachel, 1815, Al.
Benomly O. 1818, Al.
Zephaniah Buchanan, 1825, Al
There were listed 4 other children that we have yet to identify. He seems to be in MS by 1830.
This man has been a brick wall for 25 years. I have tried other spelling of the name without luck.
Also there was man that taught school in TN that is mentioned in the Autobiography of Davey Crockett
