Francis Kitley (b. 1800, PA) and Jane [Humes/Bachelor] census data
1820: Ohio, Preble County, Israel Twp. Head of householdFrancis Kitley: 1 male 16 - 25, 1 female 16 - 25
1830: [couldnt find Francis in either Ohio or Indiana]
1840: Indiana, Clinton County, page 716. head of household--Francis Kitley.
Males: two under five, one 10-15, one 15-20, one 40-50.
Females: one under 5, one 5-10, one 10-15, one 15-20, one 20-30.
[Note: if Jane and Francis married about 1835, then the two boys and two girls ranging from 10-20 years old must not have been hers. Its likely Francis was married to someone else in Ohio; the first wife may have died young.]
1850: Indiana, Clinton County, Owen Twp. page 372, enumerated 28 Aug 1850
Dwelling 80: Frances Kitly, 24, farmer, Ohio; Sarah A. 24, Ohio; William H. 2, Ind.; John 7/12 Ind.

[Note: the homes are next to each other (different dwellings, but listed consecutively on the census page.) The first Frances was likely the son of the second Frances.]

Francis Kitley, 59, farmer, Pen; Jane, 49, Ohio; Cornelius, 23, Ind.; Sarah, 22, Ind; Thomas, 20, Ind; William H., 18, Ind; Nancy J., 16, Ind; Alfred, 15, Ind; Hamilton, 13, Ind; Charles, 10, Ind; George, 8, Ill.
According to a biography of Thomas Kitley from a History of Arkansas published by Goodspeeds and posted on Rootsweb: Francis father was a Quaker from England who settled near Pittsburgh, PA in 1801 and stayed there until he died in 1844 at the age of 93. Has anyone learned anything more about him or his wife/wives (I've come across names of four different women who may have been married to him.)
