Thanks for the obituary posting. As unofficial historian for the large Kivett family, I am always glad to get additional information on family members.

I already have several records about this individual and his family, including a copy of his death certificate that lists his cause of death as "died from injuries sustained from being kicked in the head by a horse".

Thank you, John, for the Kivett obit. I don't recognize this name, but I am related to the Kivett family. My ggmo Molly Elizabeth Kivett, b.19 Jul 1861, Boonesboro, Howard, MO and her husband Daniel Irving Gessley, were living in Independence, MO at the time of Lebous Kivett's death. I wonder if they knew each other.
The Kivett family was mostly in NC, but some did migrate to MO. I can trace my branch back to Peter Kivett, the immigrant, a Revolutionary War patriot.

Lebous C. KIVETT, a retired liveryman, died yesterday
at the Wesley Hospital. He was 64 years old and lived
at 2320 Summit Street.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace KIVETT; three
daughters, Mrs. Fred McCABE of Coffeyville, Kas.;
Mrs. Jesse ORAM, and Mrs. Oscar PAUL of Delaware,
Ok.; three sons, S. W. KIVETT of Nowata, Ok.; C. D.
KIVETT of Spokane, Wash., and L. R. KIVETT of
Coffeyville, Kas.

Denise, I am Rick's first cousin. My dad was Vado Kivette. He was Rick's dad's brother. Vado was a policeman who was killed in the line of duty in 1969. If you want to know more letme know.

Marion County, Alabama Kivet family

Looking for information of Alfred or Alford KIVET and wife Lucinda. They lived near the SELF and BURLESON families in the Marion & Walker counties area of Alabama in the mid- to late-1800s. Fanny BURLESON & Emeriah SELF named a son Alfred Kivet SELF, and in 1900 the KIVETs had both a BURLESON and a SELF living in their home as servants.

I have a Hardy BURLESON married to a Lucinda SELF in the early 1800s and am wondering if perhaps Lucinda KIVET was Hardy's widow when she married Alfred KIVET.

My GG grandmother was Margaret KIVITT b. 27 Mar 1819 IN, d. 8 Apr 1899 Otterville, Cooper Co., MO, bd. Otterville Cemetery, Otterville, Cooper Co., MO.
Margaret was married on 17 Mar 1844 in Cooper Co., MO to my GG grandfather Green STEELE b. 12 Mar 1824 MO, d. aft. 1890 Cooper Co., MO.

William C. Kivett 73, Indianapolis, died Monday, October 24, 2005. He was born June 27, 1932 in Indianapolis. He worked for G.M. Truck & Bus for 31 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of and an Elder for Christ Community Church. He enjoyed coaching softball at Carnine Little League. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 27 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Morris St., with calling there 4 to 8 p.m Wednesday, October 26. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyne Kivett and brother, Adolphus Kivett. I am looking for Kievit information. Johanna Kievit was my Great grandmother. She married Cornilius Hellegers. Their daughter Katie married Marinus Van Ess. Their son Leonard Was my Dad.I know this branch of the family are from New Jersey. We find the original Peter Kivett....arriving in North America about 1750 or so.......There have been many discussions about where he may have come from....but to my knowledge it has never been proved.

He eventually settled in Randolph County, North Carolina. And some of his decendants are stsill in that area. He was apparaently of Gernan or Dutch decent...and we also find that this family used the German/Duitch method of naming the children.

You will find my database on Rootsweb World Connect....as I have it!

There are errors and I advise you to carefully document and verify any and all data, that does not come with documentation or personal knowledge.

Hi, I am related to the Kievit family. My dads grandparents were Jonanna Kievit and Cornelis Hellegers. They were born in Ouddorp Holland in the 1830,40,s and died in Passaic NJ.Johanna,s parents are Pieter Kievit and Kaatje Roon . I am not sure of their birth place. That is all I have on this family. My son, Kivet, was named after my husband's deceased grandfather-Oliver Kivet Conner. I've been searching for a long time to find the meaning and/or origin of my son's name. Minnie was the sister to my grandfather Robert Moore. My mother, Ruby, was the best friend of Ruth Kivett Burnette growing up and they remained friends their whole lives. I knew Sylvia before she died. We were cousins and friends altho she was a few years older than I. Nice to meet you.

I am married to a Tom Kivett whose family originally settled in Liberty, N.C. then moved to High Point and finally settled last in Greensboro. We have done some researsh on his family and have gone back as far as a Peter Kivett, born July 1726. Would like to research back further and exchange any info you and I might have. Though some researchers have suggested that Peter Kivet was Holland-Dutch, I believe the evidence confirms that he came to Pennsylvania from the Palatinate in Germany and that he or his forbears were originally French Huguenots. I have posted documentation to this effect at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~djwm. The site includes nearly 3000 descendants and traces the early migrations of Kivetts from NC west and northward. It also includes an index of all the Kivetts listed. I am always looking to correct misinformation, so please let me know if you find errors. Thanks.

Obit: William Chester Kivett, MIssouri

William Chester Kivett, 89, youngest of seven children of William Thomas and Mary Kivett, was born June 1, 1915, at Palace. He died Feb. 25, 2005, at Licking Park Manor.
Like so many children of the Depression, he went west with $27 borrowed from his sister. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at Salt Lake City and worked on the flood-control levy on the northern end of the lake to created a wildlife refuge.
He worked at a lumber yard in Los Angeles a short time before joining the Marines in 1935. His first tour of duty was embassy guard at Peiping, China, from 1936 to 1938. He was first introduced to the Japanese Army invading China and Peiping. His second encounter was on Guadalcanal and throughout the Solomon Islands after the New Britain Campaign.
He was rotated back to the U.S., where he volunteered for experimental malaria research at Klamath Falls, Ore. While there, he met and married Wilma Nielson in 1945. They had three children
He ended his active Marine Corps duty in 1957 with 28 awards and medals.
After receiving his GED in the Marines, he attended Oregon State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in wildlife management. He became the first wildlife biologist for the U.S. Forest Service in Region 9.
In 1967, he transferred to the Mark Twain National Forest in the Ava district. After the move to Missouri, he bought the land his grandfather, Joe Jaszarowski, had homesteaded. After his retirement in 1972, he moved to the farm at Beulah.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Among the survivors are his three children, Aleda, Lyle and Franklin Kivett of Edgar Springs; and grandchildren.
Services were March 5 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Floyd officiating. Burial with full military honors was in the O'Malley Cemetery near Duke.

Henrietta Thomas

Henrietta "Henri" Thomas, St. Joseph, Mo., died Monday, April 25, 2005, at a local health-care facility.

Born in St. Joseph, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.

She was married to Charles William Thomas on Aug. 21, 1937. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, Harley Edwin and Sarah Marinda (Booth) Kivett.

She was employed with Central High School as an English and French teacher.

A lifelong member of the First Christian Church, she taught Sunday School for many years, and served as a deacon and on the board. She was a member of the Foster Homes Group of the Child Guidance Center, Chapter B.J. of P.E.O., past president of St. Joseph P.E.O. Reciprocity, and a life member of the American Association of Business Women. She also served on the Y.W.C.A. board for 20 years, five of which she served as president; and served two terms on the United Way Board.

Survivors: two nieces, Margot N. Heskett of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mimi C. Bunten of Lake Montezuma, Ariz.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Lung Association or American Cancer Society.
