Looking for names of parents or any family info for Johann Michael KLAWITTER born August or Sept 1831, in Liszkowke, Posen, Prussia, married to Eva Rosine GASSMER 19 Oct 1856 in Lobsens, Posen, Prussia. Johann Michael immigrated to US from Bremen with his wife Eva, daughter Pauline Justine (born 16 Mar 1863, bapt. 5 Apr 1863 in Hermansdorf, Posen, Prussia), and son Frederick August (born 21 Oct 1865, bapt. 5 Nov 1865 in Hermansdorf, Posen, Prussia). Arrived in New York 10 Apr 1884 on steamer S. S. Main. A son, Heinrich Julius (born 19 Dec 1859, bapt 25 Dec 1859 in Lobsens, Posen, Prussia) previously immigrated to the United States from Hamburg, arriving on 16 April 1883 in New York, on the Steamer "Bohemia". The family settled in Mt. Carmel, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, where Johann Michael KLAWITTER (John) died 6 Feb 1899. Eva died there 10 Nov 1896.
Liszkowke, Posen, Prussia is now known as Liszkowo, in the state of Bydgoszcz, Poland. Lobsens, Posen, Prussia is now known as Lobzenica, Bydgoszcz, Poland. Hermansdorf, Posen, Prussia is now Radzicz, Bydgoszcz, Poland. Johann & Eva also had 4 other children baptized in the Lobsens Church between 1858 & 1873. These 4 children, Wilhelmine Henriette, August Gustav, Auguste, and Albert Johann Mase all died between 1858 & 1876. KLAWITTER is alternatively spelled CLAVITER in the church records.
Johann Michael’s birthdate is derived from his marriage record, which shows his age as 25 years, 1 month, which equals a birthdate of August or September 1831. Conflicting info from his immigration papers and his death record place his birthdate alternatively as 1824-1825 or 1827-1828.
Julius married Wilhelmina GOETZKE, raised a family & died in Mt. Carmel 6 Nov 1927. Pauline married William RUTHS, raised a family & died in Mt. Carmel 11 Jul 1944. Frederick married Rosalie GOETZKE, raised a family & died in Mt. Carmel 23 Mar 1938. (I have much more info on these families and would love to hear from any descendants).
I’ve been stuck in finding Johann Michael KLAWITTER’s parents for several years now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
