I just found your post, but I can't tell if you are looking for an Albert or an Arnold. I think you may be looking for my husband's Uncle Arnold. I can tell you that Arnold is buried beside his parents, Matthew and Anna Kleis (though his last name is spelled Klees) in Chase Cemetery just outside of Fleetville, Pennsylvania.

Hello Cindy,

I am Alexandra "Sandra" Klees, now married with a different last name. I'm the oldest child of Arnold Ernest Klees. My Grandfather was Mathias Klees, but he immigrated from Germany around the early 1900's. His first name was changed to Matthew at Ellis Island. But the ship's record has him listed as Mathias.

He had a brother in Scranton, and he lived out his life in Scranton, PA. He also had a dairy farm in Fleetville, Pa. It was sold before I was born.

I have a brother and sister, Susanne and David Klees.

I am wondering if we are distant cousins. And I'm trying to find my Dad's favorite sister Jeanne, who moved to Missoula, Montana. I believe her married name is "Yokum" or Yokkum.

Our best,
Alexandra & Family
appletree@frontiernet.net

I am looking for information about my husbands family. Specifically Angeline Klees who lived in Allamakee county, Iowa. She was buried in Ashton, Iowa. She was the mother of Elizabeth Klees who married Joseph Strub 12-12-1899. Elizabeth was born in 1836 in Luxemburg. If there is any connection to anyone I would appreciate information, Thanks.

Bonjour Toussaint. Four generations ago, my family came to the U.S. from Vianden, Luxembourg. My great-grandfather, Jacob Nicholas Klees and his brother Anton Klees came to the U.S., sisters Katherine and Juliana stayed in Lux., and two more brothers (don't know their names) went to Paris for year, then back to Luxembourg we believe. These six were the children of Nicholas and Elizabeth Klees of Vianden. Any chance we're related?

Re: hello

Hello I'm a Klees from Luxembourg (Esh-Sur -Alzette) if you want to be precise. I'm living in the UK at present and have a sister who lives in the US. In our family people say that Klees is luxemburgish for Clover (as a plurial). Any theories about the Klees surnames meaning or origin with your kin? Most genealiogical stuff I've seen has Germans and Dutch people with the name, though since Luxembourg is (or to be honest was before the Ruling Dynasty sold half of it to the belgians) between these two countries it is may be Luxembourgish in origin (the odds are against it though). It's very rare as a surname in England - where I live now - I'm always the only Klees in the phonebook.
