Hello Andy,
I believe we have a connection! Joe Klein-Kline (Born abt. 1855) married to Margarita Baca (Born abt. 1862) is my 2nd g-grandfather. And I have a list of at least 9 of their children, and Willie being one of them. Can you email me at home so we can get this straightened out. artederoca@cableone.net
Where did you find the C. in Margarita C. de Baca? The C. may indicate what her mothers surname was. I only have a name of Concepcion and no last name for Margaritas mother and I am not sure if this is correct. I found Concepcion name on a 1910 Az. Census. I also show that Joe K. marr. to Margarita was born abt. 1855 in Missouri or Ohio. He met his Hispanic wife Margarita in NM. Do you have names of Willies siblings? and was Willie born in Socorro, NM.? I don't know if all of these siblings were born in Socorro. I also have Willie marr. Teodorita Madrid, do you know where Teodora was from or who her parents were? You mentioned 3 left for Ohio, (what town in Ohio) and 2 stayed in NM. Joe marr. to Margarita obviously was one who stayed in NM. Do you know which other one stayed in NM and which ones went to Ohio. And as well I do not know if Jose Klein with Petra and Joe Klein with Anita Jaramillo are the same person?? Do you know where you got this info or where any of them were from, or any death certificates, then we can get to the bottom of who is who here.I found Joe K. and Marg. on a 1900 and 1910 census for Magdalena, Socorro, NM. Please help with anything else you have. I have been trying to continue this line and have been stumped. Also I would like to have the younger lines, such as your parents, uncles, aunts, your children, ect. I also have notes abt. Anita Jaramillo I got from an interview with one of our relatives in the Gallup NM area years ago.

Family of Edward Joseph Klein

I'm currently researching the family history of an elderly friend of mine with the last name of Klein and would greatly appreciate any help other Klein genealogists could give.

My friend was born in New York city in August of 1925. His father, Edward Joseph Klein was born in or near Andernach, Germany on November, 11, 1892. I have a ship manifest for the S.S. Rio de Janeiro showing that Edward Joseph Klein landed in New York in November of 1914, that his last residence was in Sao Paulo, Brazil and that his closest living relative was a Frau or Franz E. Klein of Andernach Germany.

My friend tells the story of how his father and grandfather were both onboard the ship and that his grandfather (possibly an Edward Franz Klein) told Edward Joseph to stay in New York and make a new life for himself because of the war.

I know that my friend is the second of two children from the marriage of Edward Joseph and his wife Ethel N.. Unfortunately, this is pretty much the extent of the knowledge I have on the family.

If anyone has information on this line, I would greatly appreciate any leads.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff Scism

I've read your posts and thought I'd chime in on Karl and Amelia Kline. I'm running into a brick wall with them. I have a picture of their gravestone from Marion, Kansas that indicates that Karl was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. However, I cannot find any record of a Karl Kline (with all spelling variations) having served in the Union forces. Moreover, I cannot find any census records of Karl and Amelia. Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm attaching photos of their gravestones in Kansas.
Tonya Jamois
tjamois@roadrunner.com

I have looking for Klein's from Canada. My research has been in reverse order and I am into the early 1800's. My ancestors went to Minnesota from Canada in the mid 1800's.
My 3G Grandpa came from Canada to Caledonia MN at that time.
I also know of a Jacob Klein from that era, here is what I found out there...
This is what is written about him in the 1882 Houston County History Book: Jacob Klein is a native of Bavaria, born on the 19th of December 1824 and came with his parents to Canada in 1840. He came to Union township in 1854, took a claim in section thirty and erected a shanty, where he resided about a year, cooking his own meals and doing his own housework. In 1855 he was united in marriage with Miss Agnes Snure, daughter of Henry Snure, one of the first settlers of the place. They went to Canada but soon returned to Union, where his wife died about a year after her marriage. In 1860, he returned to Canada and married Miss Catharine Becker who has borne him six children: Louis, Elizabeth, William, Addie, Jacob and Allie. In 1874, Mr. Klein erected his present fine stone residence. He has held the office of Supervisor a number of times besides other local offices.

If you find any ties let me know, as I have just began this quest.

Well my mom told me that her grandfather Josef, was born in Germany (today it's Poland), and he was married to Helena Gumienny. Josef's parents were Margareta and Nicholaus Klein and they had ten kids. They lived in Germany. Some of those kids moved to the US. Nicholaus' job was to build churches and bridges. Some names of those kids are: Heinrich, Fanny, Peter...well I don't know all their names but I might find out as soon as I contact my aunt in Poland. She was the daughter of Josef. She had a brother and a sister( my grandmother!). I would appriciate to hear from you as soon as possible!!!

Franz G. Joseph Klein, 1797-1875; Joseph Jr., 1838-1907; Joseph III, 1862-? settled in WI

Franz "Joseph" Klein came from Prussia with two children, Katie (born 1824) and Joseph Jr. (1838-1907). They settled in Potosi, Grant County, WI; Joseph Sr. lived with his son.

Joseph Jr.'s first wife was Katherina Delaney, born 1832 in Ireland. They had a son, Joseph III, born in Illinois. Katherina died in 1871, and is buried at St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi, WI. Joseph Jr. re-married to Emma Kehrer in 1875.

Joseph III left his father's house between 1880-1895. The 1920 Beetown Township, Grant County, WI census shows a Joseph Klein of the right age born in Illinois, married to a Jessie A., with three children, Violet, Nevada, Joseph, and Francis.

Information I'm looking for is:
-who was Joseph Sr's wife and did they have any other children;
-where did his family live before settling in Grant County. Any places besides Illinois, and where in Illinois?
-any info on Katherina Delaney's family;
-what family is Joseph III's wife Jessie from, and what happened to their children.

I love sharing information too, so don’t hesitate to contact me with questions, either.

I am wondering if your Philip Peter could be a brother of my Johann Jacob Klein, believed born 10 Feb 1790 in Holzhausen,GroBherogthum Hessen Darmstadt, Germany ???

He was my g-g-g-grandfather, immigrated to Wisconsin sometime in the late 1840s/early 1850s as a widower and died in Fredonia, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin on 16 Dec 1869.

I have a great deal of information on Johann Jacob's descendants that I would be glad to share with you if we determine these two men are siblings.

Ron Klein
