Re: Klinker Family from Hustedt or Martfeld in Hanover Province

I am also researching Klinkers from this area. My great, great grandfather was Dietrich Klinker, born Hoya around 1834. His father was also called Dietrich. His mother was Elisabeth Hauptmann. He came to England probably early 1850s. He emanated from Hoya. In England he married Catharina Sarah Hoepfner, also from Hannover region. I don't know whether or not they made the journey to England together.

I have not yet found any roots for Dietrich Klinker in Germany but I have established there was a Dietrich Heinrich Klinker in Hustedt in the 1852 Hannover census and also a Dietrich H. Klinker in Kleinenborstel, very close to Hustedt. The one in Kleinenborstel had a small farm and could possibly be my g.g. grandfather's father. The one in Hustedt was a tenant and could possibly be my g.g. grandfather. It was usual for farms to pass down to eldest sons and younger children often had to go off and find another living. That would fit in with the latter Dietrich Klinker being a tenant.

Any info you have that might lead me to identifying the roots of Dietrich Klinker would be appreciated.

My direct email is ksturges@tiscali.co.uk

Best regards,

Keith Sturges

Margaret Klinker marries William Kleinschmit

Searching for Margaret Klinker b Nov 1863 in Germany (Prussia) d 9 Aug 1937 in Yankton, South Dakota. She and her husband, William Kleinschmit b Aug 1860 in Fussville, Wisconsin.
(I found the 1900 Census of Cedar Co. Nebraska with William and Margret and children. Apparently these 1900 census birth dates is disputing a Kleinschmit book) The children and their birth dates seems to be the same as the family has them.)
Can any family member help me. Is there any birth or death records to confirm the census being wrong?
The first discrepancy I found, is finding Wilhelm in any of the census. There isn't any Wilhelm married to Margaret Klinker. The second discrepancy is finding Margrith or Maggie born on Oct 9, 1862 with is suppose to be her right birth instead of the census birth, which is Nov 1863.
William and Margaret's children are 1.Elizabeth, 2.Peter, 3.Margaret as "Maggie" on census 4. Cecelia 5. Kate (on census) 6 Paul 7 Theodore W. (on census) 8 William 9. Gertrude as Gertie H.(on censeu) 10. Clara I.(on census)
Following additional children on 1910 census with father, William, and mother, Maggie (apparently her nickname)
11. Jacob E.and the last child, 12. Henry M.(both on 1910 census)
All children were born in Nebraska. William came from Wisconsin. William and Margaret are supposedly to have been married in Lesterville, South dakota in 1883, but can't find any document to lean that way.
Hope to hear from someone. Thanks, Duane and Jo

Would like to correspond with anyone who has information about or is related to Katherine Ketelsen Klinker Brumm. Born in Germany, Katherine and a Mr. Hans Klinker had 4 children (I believe): Claus, Dora, Margaret Haddie, and Hans, Jr. The Senior Hans died in Germany and Katherine married a Mr. Brumm and the couple and children immigrated to the U.S.
They lived in Wyoming, South Dakota, and eventually settled in Trosky, Minnesota (small town south of Pipestone).

My great-grandparents called this lady "Tanta Brumm" and visited frequently with her son's family: Hans Klinker, Jr. In fact, Hans Klinker, Jr. married my great-grandmother's sister (an Arp).
Claus Klinker never married.
One of the girls married a Duncan Blair.

Please consider contacting me with any tidbits of information. I have quite a few old photos of these people also which I would like to pass on to more direct relatives!

Thanks in advance.

I replied too fast. Here's the website address for the Dickinson board:

http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p...

I've been thinking about this since you wrote. If August Ketelsen and Paul Ketelsen were cousins...like the photo says...then one of each of the parents would have to be brother or sisters. Since I do not know the siblings names of August's mother, his father or his step father....we got a problem. But I guess that would also eliminate his step-brother Peter that I talked about earlier as the father of Paul.

However, it still doesn't prove they aren't related. Either August's dad or his step-dad could have a brother named Peter because that name is pretty prevalent in the whole family.

Another note about my other message....I have more names of generations after the one I posted that I can give you. If I don't answer over the weekend, it will be because we are away from the computer.

Ronald (Peter?) Klinker

I am interested if this man (Ronald Peter Klinker) happened to spend a few years in Poland in the 60ties, a communist country at the time. I became the owner of a Vespa scooter which he brought from Italy around 1964 and I am very curious what happened to this man after he'd left Poland (which took place after 1966 I suppose).

I'd be very grateful if someone could give me some information and, if possible, some contact to Mr. Klinker.

Pawel Motel,
Warsaw, Poland

I don't think we have a connection but it must be close. My great aunt Louisa Kroeger was first married to a Klinker. I think his name was Peter. This was about 1886 in Hanover twp Crawford county Iowa. Charter Oak twp is adjacent. Her first husband died about 1897 then she married Peter Boeck. Give some dates to see if there is a connection.

I don't have a record of her coming to America with him, just with her son Johann Klinker in 1884.

Hi Raymond,

I took awhile to make the connection, but your Peter Klinker (15 Feb 1858- 17 Sept 1897), married to Louise Kroeger (married on 23 Dec. 1883), was the brother of my great grandfather Johann Asmus Klinker. They had two other brothers, Hans Henry and Claus. I have just found an 1860 cencus record in Germany that lists Peter, age 2, Claus, age 5 and parents Johann (or Johannes) Peter and Margaretha gab G_____. I have other records referring to the father as Hans, but those names are apparently interchangable. It says they were both born in Nubel (Nybol in Danish) which at that time would have been in Denmark. It says he was a shoemaker, which matches other records.

Hope this information fills in the gap to the Klinker connection.

Ken Klinker
kenklinker@msn.com
