All these posts are old but in case anyone is checking, I am looking fror the German origins of my ggf's family.
Johann August Theodor Kneese b abt 1828 probably in Uchte, nr Nieburg in the Kingdom of Hannover.(Lower Saxony)
He emigrated to South Australia when abt 21 or 22.
He married here to the dau of a prominent Gn family (there were lots of them) and had 6 children.

I have no idea why he emigrated, except that it may be for economic reasons, or who his parents were or whether he had siblings.
If anyone has any ideas I would be pleased to hear from you.
