I am trying to find out if I am following correctly what is on the message boards.

Is your George Knepp b. 1802 the son of John Knepp b. 1784 (John being the son of George Knepp b. 1753 & Catherine Mick/Muck)?

George Knepp & Catherine Mick/Muck are my 5Grt Grandparents.

Thank you.

LorieNYC@aol.com

Hi,

I would be interested in the information you have regarding George Knepp & his descendants. He is my 5Grt Grandfather. I did not realize that this branch of my family tree went back so far, to the Am Rev! Most of my branches do but I did not expect it of this branch!

I am a descendant of George's son Peter (& Catarina Roland) and would be glad to share the information I have.

LorieNYC@aol.com

Hi Jeff,

Hope this gets to you, since your messages were some years ago.

Peter Knepp & Catherine (Catarina) Roland are my 4 Grt Grandparents.

Peter & Catherine moved to Iowa. I have the lineage on them til the present.

Also, as a direct descendant of Catarina/Catherine Roland, I have maternal DNA results for her maternal line. It is an unusual DNA for Europe. And I am in contact with a distant "cousin" in the Netherlands (but he believes this line of his family came from Germany); we do not know who are common ancestor is as very hard to find with maternal DNA.

LorieNYC@aol.com

Thanks for the info. Crosgrove reunion? Where will it be held? I'd have to round everyone up. We're all over Northern California now. Where are you from? Also it's probably easier to contact me via my blog. I don't have an ancestry account. It's something I've been going back and forth on. But I do write a blog www.cemeteryexplorers.blogspot.com . I've gotten the Crosgrove info by networking through that...

My great grandpa is Leonard Crosgrove, Otis's brother! Thanks for helping, I did know about all that information, it says Joel was born in Michigan and so on, but in other census records it different in just about every document. I assumed he was born in PA for the fact thats were they lived when he was young. For Regina I have alot of family info on her. Enoch I don't have anything other than the family thinks the Crosgroves' were from Ireland. I'm in the middle of planning a Crosgrove reunion for next year if your family is interested. Thanks again and if you need any help let me know.

Ok here's what I found...It seems our lines cross once you go back that far. Joel had a son Otis who was my mother's grandfather. Enoch and Regina are of course the parents of Joel. A friend found Enoch and Regina on the Bradford Township census for 1860 in Pennsylvania. Joel shows up on the 1900 census for Monona, IA listing his birthplace as Michigan and his parents birthplace in Ohio. Bare with me because I'm new to all this. I can find nothing else on Enoch or Regina. I hope this helps...

Her maiden name was Mary Adeline Knepp and she married George Shrader (Schrader. My grandmother was born in 1885 so the marriage was probably just before that. I believe thay may have been Amish or Mennonite. Do you have any information on her in your family tree? Thanks

Snyder and Mifflin Counties

This is my first post. I'm in the earliest stages of research into the Knepp family. This is my maternal grandfather's family and they had mostly passed away by the time I was born.

This is what I know and it is not much:

The family lived in Snyder County. John Knepp married Alice Decker, probably in the early 1920s or late late teens. They had five children, four boys and one girl: John, Francis, Jim, Mark, and Lewis. My grandfather was Mark and he was born in 1929. I believe Lou was born in 1932. Alice was committed to an asylum but mom doesn't remember why. John, Sr. committed suicide and the children were split up among relatives. That is how my grandfather ended up in Mifflin County. At some point I plan on going to Snyder County to do some research. If anyone has pictures of this family or stories you've heard from relatives please contact me. As my research contintues, I'll post what I learn.

I live in Arizona now, but grew up in PA though not Clearfield. My father was from Clearfield. Our most common surnames are Lansberry and Peters, but all those old families are inter-related and we have our share of Knepp's and all the other old Clearfield surnames on our family tree. I just don't have Vonda anywhere and was hoping someone knew who her parents might be because they may very well be on our family tree.

I am also a descendant of Martin and Sarah (Sally) Gower. I am having a very difficult time with Martin.

I have Martin and Sarah from the 1860 census. I found them as Knapp. Then I have Sarah and the children from the 1870 and 1880 census. Leaving me to believe that Martin died before 1870...or ran off?? HaHa!!

I am a descendant of Theodores' line, so I have more on him. I looked for this line a few years back and gave up because of my lack of finding anything. Im replying to your post in the hopes that someone else may be researching this line again.

Hope to hear from anyone else related through this line.

Nickole FRIEND Baldwin

I think we have the same family here. Possibly my Adarn/Adam is a brother to your JF. Adarn & Margaret's children were Catherine b.1823 Mifflin Co. PA, married John McClain 1844 Mifflin Co, PA, they moved to Colon, MI between 1864 & 1870. This is the line I follow. John McClain was my gggrandfather. Adarn's other children were:Lydia, Elizabeth, Joseph, Mariah who married William McClain, and Margaret. These were in the 1850 Mifflin co PA census. I have virtually no info on the Knepps. John & Catherine Mc Clain had 8 children, he had 5 from a 1st marriage. Their son Amos married Catherine Marie Shoemaker in Three Rivers, MI in 1892, they had 6 children including my grandfather Harold McClain. We still have relatives in the Colon/Three Rivers area, but I haven't seen any of them for 30 years. Do you have more info on your JF & Catherine?, their siblings, parents, etc. ? I can try to find out more next time I go to the library, we have a teriffic one here in Houston. Thanks for your response. Angela

I am going through old family photographs and scanning them into the computer and scrapbooking them.

Came across a photo of a little girl, probably taken in the 1920's and on the back it has written "Vonda Knepp"

I have a few Knepp's on my family tree, but no Vonda -- does anyone know who she is?

Obviously her father's name would have been Knepp, I would suspect that her mother's surname was Lansberry.

Hi, Barbara

I think I can help, I can confirm that Matilda Knepp (b. 1826) married Henry Fries (b. 1822), March 25, 1845. The 1850 census shows this along with 4 children, Peter, Sarah, William, & Effie. All born prior to 1950 census. After that it gets more confusing. The 1870 shows Henry Freese in Flowerfield, St. Joseph. MI. The 1860 Census shows a son Jacob O, and John Mitchell born in PA between 1850-1853. The 1860 census als shows Flowerfield St. Joseph, MI. I could not confirm the other children.
What makes this real interesting is a second Henry Freese married to a Matilda Dewey from PA, living in Three rivers MI, with some of the the children you listed, this Henry had a second marriage to a Emily Griffith. If you can confirm that this isn't the Henry and Matilda you are looking for, I can go ahead and send you what I have on Henry and Matilda Knepp.

Jeff
