Hello,
My father was Leroy James Knettle. My mother was Catherine Cowdrick Knettle. He had 4 sons from a previous marriage and was about 18 yrs older than my mother. My mother had two children, Barbara and Lance when they married and Leroy adopted them. I was the only child they had together. His 4 sons from his previous marriage were in the Phila. area. AS a child we lived in Camden and moved to York, Pa. in approx. 1945-1946. For a few years before her death Leroys mother, Mabel, lived with us. My parents divorced when I was a teenager, approx. 1959. He then remarried and moved to Clearwater, Fl. I had no contact with him after their divorce.

looking for a J. Knettle

Hello,
I am looking for a gentleman named J. Knettle, who lived in Davis California up until August of 2004. He worked for Woodland Joint Unified School District during June and July of 2004 as a summer school English teacher. This is in regards to an issue relating to a student's grade for a summer school class he taught. Mr. Knettle moved away from the area in August '04, and did not leave a forwarding address. I apologize for adding this to your genealogy family search, but this problem with the grade is keeping a student from graduating from high school. Mr. Knettle was an avid bicyclist, riding 12-13 miles to work and back every day-from Davis to Woodland, California.

HURON- Mrs. Elizabeth Walter, 85, of 124 Center St., died last night in Sandusky Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Walter is survived by a son, Ted Walter, Huron; two sisters, Eliza Knettle, Cleveland and Gertrude Heyman, Vermilion; two brothers, George Dickel, Vermilion, and Charles Dickel, Huron; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call tomorrow at the Hinman Funeral Home. Berlin Heights, where services will be Monday at 3 p.m. EST. The Rev. Harvey Parker, pastor of the Berlin Heights Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Heights.

Just checking to see if you have any more Ertelt information.My gr gr grandfather also came from Breslau Germany, I don't know his first name but his son Richard and his family lived in Kingston NY. Richard had at least two brothers,Frank and George . I also have who I think is George Jr. moving to Bridgeport Conn.. Also I know the family was in the cigar buisness.If this is of any help ,please get back to me.

Hi Arthur I am also connected to the Ertelt Family as well one of the Preisler Girls Marr. an Ertelt They are both Buried in New Haven,Conn. I think I took a Picture of there grave stone the last time I was there. I also gotten information from Vital Records of New Haven. My Uncle says there is still Ertelt Family living in Conn. Also the Ertelt Family made cigars.

Hi, I just ran across this. My last name is Knettel. I don't really know much about my family beyond my mother. My father, Gerald (2/9/20), is one of the names you listed below. The date of death is 12/1967 rather than 12/1976 though. He dies when I was 5 and I don't really remember him. What nationality does Knettel derive from?

Looking for more information on Anna Knettel. The Information that I do have is that Anna marr.Herman Priesler they had 3 Girls that I know of Anni Priesler or Preisler marr. Herrman Ertelt. Hello Celina- I have been looking through some family papers today. I find that Wilhemina was known as Minnie. This name shows on all of my fathers papers. She is buried in Plainedge Cemetery, Bethpage, N.Y. The tombstone there does show Wilhemina. I also learn that her parents were John Sophie Knettel. I don't think I have any more info. Celina, Have you tried Knittle? This is a French variant I believe. I have also seen "Knittle" related to many PA settlers.

I'm really feeling your pain regarding this, because I am PA Dutch (German) and French on my father's side. There are so many variants of the name it's unreal! Go to www.familytreemaker.com and do a search of "Knittle" - there is a lot of info. there! I'll keep my eye out for more - let me know if you come across the Kyttle spelling, which is a variant of Kittle / Kittel / Ketel

Do you have any further information on George Wise? The George Wise in my linage was born sometime around 1765 to 1780. He was born in what was called "Big Run" near Mifflin Twp. Cumberland Co. PA. His father's name was Felix Wise. Best regards

My Great Grandfather is Charles Edward Kyttle m. Sarah Alberta Long. I have received copies of their Applications for Social Security Cards from the Soc. Sec. Office. They state:
Charles Edward Kyttle b. July 09, 1884 in Union Twp., Luzerne County, PA - his father was Ira. J. Kyttle m. Clara Cragle.
Sarah (Birdie) Alberta Long b. August 20, 1884 in Hunlock Creek, Luzerne County, PA - her father was Joseph Peter Long m. Ester Rosetta Cadwalder.
I am desperately looking for information on Ira J. Kyttle.
