I am searching for information on Henry William Knierim, son of John Andrew & Sarah (Low) Knierim from Linden/Rock Port area. All I know is that Henry married Wilhelmina M. Ottman and she died in Seattle, Washington before SSID was in place. Do not have infor on children and haven't been able to find them on census (probably due to spelling errors). I am searching from the Ottman side, so have little to go on. Rose

Eckhardt's father was Frederick and I think his mothers anme was either Betha or Berta Knierim. I know that theyare both dead now. The mother died somewhere around 1990 or 1991 (somewhere in there).. I know that there is a brother over there also and I think that his name is Hanz or something like that. If anyone knows anything about any of this that will help me then please email me at knierim@advertisnet.com
Thank you- Sheila Knierim

                                          June 7, 2002
Dear Justin Knierim,
There may be several August Knierims. I happen to be the grandson of one who died in Columbus, Ohio in October 1950. I don't know whether this is the August Knierim you are looking for. He had three sisters that I am aware of. His youngest sister is in her 90's and when I spoke to her years ago she said that their father's name was Henry Knierim. Henry was married to Henrietta and they came to this country from Kurhessen, Germany. Henry's father was Conrad Knierim. There may have been a spelling of Knieriem in times gone by. I am in the process of developing a family tree. Henrietta's maiden name may have been Baldschun. There was also supposed to have been a Paterschun in the maternal line of descent.
I hope that this information might be of some help to you. Which county of Pennsylvania was your August Knierim born in on the 20th of AUG1881?

Best regards,
David S.
Hello.
My sister married Russel Knierim, who is from Morgan Co, MO. His father is Eckhardt Knierim. Eckhardt came from Germany to the US after the Korean War. He came into New York and onto Missouri. Lived in northern MO until his death a few years ago.
My sister mentioned the name Lawrence and the name Hanz (or something similar) but that was family that stayed in Germany. One of those may have been a father and one a brother perhaps. She is very interested in finding any other info on the Knierim family. Any help appreciated.
Jackie
ullom@pcis.net

Hello relative! We were just talking over the Christmas break about this, hmmm. John Andrew was my great great grandfathers' brother. We have quite a bit of info. "back home" in Rock Port, Missouri. Those old krauts settled there close to Linden (the first county seat and where the family is still buried) in 1856. My father still lives on the family farm. His number is 660-744-5722 (John Henry Knierim). Email me back or call 402-234-2265. I hope all is well and happy holidays!

Knierim: only child

Well this is a BIG coincidence!!But unfortuneatly, my mother, Martha, born on May 2nd,1925, was an only child. Also coincidence that your great-grandfather and great-grandmother had the same names as my grandparents. The Knierims of mine were from NW Ohio, but also had previously live in New Jersey, near New York City. Thanx anyway for responding

re: Knierim meaning

My German husband, whose grandmother was a von Knieriem, says the name means Knee Belt, the thongs you see cris-crossed around the knee in pictures from the Middle Ages. Whether the Knieriems / Knierims were those who made these, wore these, came from a place where they were worn, or were awarded these we have no idea. The "von" before the name denotes nobility, but he says most likely only landed gentry, not dukes or counts or earls. Hope this helps with the project.

3 Knierim / Knieriem Brothers to US

Looking for information on my husbands great-uncles who came to the US probably after 1870. They were SONS of Johan Eugen Knieriem m. Catherine Thiem;
and BROTHERS of Philipp b. 26 June 1855 Flinsberg Germany. He m.
Hulda Julie Emmaline Kister 10 May 1882, whose daughter Anna Marie b. 10 Dec
1882,
was my husband's grandmother. Philipp and his family remained in Germany.
We do not know the names of the three brothers or when
they came to the US.
Flinsberg is central Germany - s. of Heiligenstadt, n. of Eschwege Muehlhausen.
Philipp later lived in Unterroeblingen, w. of Halle
Happy to share what information we have.
Please note: KnieRIEM , also von Knieriem, was probably spelled without the second E here to get the pronunciation by Americans to approximate the proper German pronunciation - thus KnieRIM.

My great grandfather was John Hartz, wife Anna Knierim. Children were Gustave Odolphus, Sarah, Addie, Mary. Anna died after the birth of youngest child Gustave. John Hartz then married Anna's sister and they had a son John Hartz who resided in Chicago, ILL. My grandfather Gus Hartz was born 2/2/1878 in (we think) Toledo, Ohio. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I would like to find out what orphanage John Hartz placed his girls in after the death of their mother, and where did John Hartz reside?
