Connie sorry this is so late in answering.I do not live in Worth County however I am the 3rd generation to have been born in Allendale Worth County MO. I was just up there in L August to attend the annual COMBS Family reunion. I live in Winter Springs Florida a suburb of Orlando. Where in Iowa is Lenox My Combs/Case families were in the county just above Worth county. I am having a seniior moment and do not recall the county but they were in Racoon twp. I am vitally interested in learning more about my William J. Knox so perhaps we can close the gap.I hope this reaches you. Jacque Combs Rubins

Yes Connie I would be interested in the DNA project Knox. I had the same done with my FRY line (daughter of William Knox) I was not able to glean a great deal more than I already knew. I am on a limited fixed income and would be unable to invest further DNA testing.I also have a DNA record with NIA in Baltimore in reference to a genetic defect in my extended family. They have not responded so I have little data to rely on. Jacque

Hello Bill, I have been away from the boards for a while and now getting back into the swing of genealogy. I would be interested in learning more about my William J. Knox. Perhaps hemight be the som on your William Knox. Both being ministers and living in Ohio. My information about my William came from an old newspaper article of his death it is quite an extensive obit but gave NO family background. It is preported he was born in WVA . via the obit. I know therehas been a great lapse time in this answer but hopefully we still can connect. Jacqueline Combs Rubins in FLorida

African American Knox Family

Hello:

Benjamin Wilson Knox ( 1855 - 1937 ), Samuel Lee Knox ( 1865 - 1920 ), and Effie Knox were siblings born somewhere in North Carolina. Where? I don't know. However, I believe I'm narrowing the search down to Rowan County, or a surrounding county.

Benjamin and Samuel migrated to Phillips County, Arkansas. Effie stayed in North Carolina, and married, possibly to someone with the surname of Waddell, Wardell, or something similar. Their mother's maiden name was Cowan according to Benjamin's death certificate. Any information, suggestions, or assistance of any kind would be greatly appreciated.

Malcolm S. Knox

This is what I have found for Samuel
Samuel R. and Angeline Slater Knox also had
Angie age 3 years 5 months died Aug.21,1872 and
Samuel L. age 5 years 5 months died Aug.21,1878.
They both are buried in Athens cemetery in Jewell Co. Kansas
The headstone states they are the children of Samuel and Angeline Knox. This cemetery is 7 miles North of Glen Elder.
I have Samuel on the 1850 cen. farmer Dunn. Co. Wis.
1860 cen. Lisbon Juneau, Wis. and mother in law and 3 children living with them. 1870 cen. living in Creek Township, Ill. This also is shows he is a minister. 1885 he is 59 years old and a minister in Glen Elder, Kansas. 1890 cen. was destroyed. Angeline last appears in the 1910 cen. living with her daughter and son in law, Rose Ellen and James Michel. Angeline Slater was the daughter of William C. Slater and Sarah Ellen Moore. William died in 1849 was a "49" in Calf.gold rush. Sarah was born in 1807 Penn.
Delbert son of Samuel my great Granfather was born 2-14-1892 died 2-26-1911. He is buried 10 miles east of Glen Elder in thr Elmira Cemetery Next to his son George. I have yet to fing Angeline's burial. I had made contact with an eldery family member in who stated that there was a connection to a famous "Knox". But since my parents death I can no longer find her. I have studied the cen. and show the family of Moses arriving in Ill. the same time that the bio you sent me on Samuel states he left for Ill. with his family. that place him right at about 15 or 16 the same time it appears Moses Knox and his family arrive 1840 to 1841.I have tried to make contact with some genealogy groups in that area, and note that others that are resarching Moses show that he had a son named Samuel but all the birth dates are all showing different. If I find out anything in the next week, I shall let you know. I have been searching weekly for over a year now and I really think Samuel ties into that line.Did you ever ger your picture I emailed last year of Delbert? Thank you for answering.
Kathi By the way there are 3 men searching Samuel too.
I need to weigh in on this, and perhaps receive some help, My 2nd great grandmother was Keziah Knox Atkinson she was born supposedly in Vermont in 1809 then moved with her parents to Schroon Lake New York sometime thereafter, She had a brother by the name of Jeptha. It appears that the Knox family attended the Baptist church @ Minerva New York, I have a record that states that Jeptha paid for his pew in 1843. (Minerva being just a few miles from Schroon Lake( Keziah and Jeptha's father name was John and the mothers name was also possibly Keziah. Please if anyone knows who John's parents were I would appreciate the help.

I have four Parker Deed maps of Chester Dist, S.C. the area from York down to below Rocky Creek including the area all around Fishing Creek Church and Creek.
These maps show a David Morrow having 100 acres in 1766 directly next to a Samuel Morrow who also with 100 Acres 1n 1765. It could not be Samuel Morrow son of Samuel Morrow because he was born in 1760 and way to young to own property unless the birth year is incorrect for him. So either either this was Samuel Morrow husband of Elizabeth Knox who lived just a short distance away or it was the elder Samuel married to Mary McClure who had a brother or cousin named David. One problem I have with Samuel born: 1710 being the father of Samuel 1760. He would have been 50 when he fathered Samuel his son and his wife would have been 47 , that's pretty old for a woman to mother a child back in those days.
Well, I am just throwing stuff out there to see what other might think.
If any one is interested in those maps let me know they are very interesting and show where every one lived and how close they all were to each other.
Does any one know of a web site for our Morrow family ?

Don Dunn iammdunn4@comcast.net

I wonder if any DNA test have been conducted on this Samuel Morrow line ? I have seen them for the other Samuel Morrow but not the husband of Elizabeth Knox. It is nearly impossible to figure out who his parents are with so many people having conflicting family trees. I wonder if this Samuel could be the same one that married Janet Nelson since He did not marry Elizabeth Knox until he was 35 years old. Maybe he was married before he married Elizabeth. I know the age difference from 1743 and 1760 but I have seen dates missed by more than that before. I know this is a long shot at best but I have racked my mind and the Internet trying to figure this mess out. It appears that they were both in Chester Dist. at about the same time.
Don Dunn
iamdunn4@comcast.net
Your 9 year old thread asked for information for George Knox. I am a distant relation to Thomas Charles Deaville or married Hannah Knox. Whilst searching for Thomas I found a census record (1861 I think!) living with parents at Brookhouse Farm, Botteslow, Staffordshire, on the same census just above the Deavilles' was the Knox family. It records George Knox place of birth as Scotland. Hope this helps.
Andrea

I just tried my "favorite" trick and found Martin VB Knox's Obituary in the Ticonderoga Sentinel newspaper.
I also found that Martin's NIECE was one Mrs Nelson LaBier; through another newspaper personals item.
If you paste the following URL in the address box it will bring you to the search box.

http://news2.nnyln.net/ticonderoga-sentinel/search.html

Martin's Obit can be accessed by going to the 42% match on the Knox name. It's 1912--the April-June edition
It was specifically stated that he was born in Schroon Lake on the farm and was one of nine children of Jepthah and his wife. He lived in Boston, apparently.

upon searching for Nelson LaBier, there are many personals; as Nelson LaBier seemed to run a hunting lodge in Blue Mt Lake vacinity and lots of folks hunted/visited the "lodge".

You may be able to uncover much about how Labier connects to Knox and many other leads.

In going back to my favorite trick, stated in my previous post, I just discovered such a wonder piece of information.
TICONDEROGA SENTINAL
APRIL 9, 1936
Severance, NY--Daniel Smith Knox, only son of Oliver Knox and Lucilla Smith, b Schroon, NY 9 September 1853, and departed this life at his home in Severence March 30, 1936 at 82 years 6 months 21 days.
THE NAME KNOX COMING FROM NEW ENGLAND and Oliver being ONE OF 16 CHILDREN OF JEPTHA KNOX; SON OF JOHN; SON OF TIMOTHY born 1725.
Timothy, having left his studies at Harvard College, took to the wildnerness and later became the FIRST INHABITANT OF WOODSTOCK, VT before the American Revolution began.
From thence, the GENERATIONS DRIFTED TO ORWELL, VT; TO SHOREHAM, VT, AND FINALLY, SCHROON (ESSEX CO)NY.
On February 3, 1890 Daniel S Know married Annie L Baker.
They made their home in Severance, during the years, until July 7, 1930, when Annie answered the Heavenly call.
Mr Knox suffered a lameness of hip all his life, due to a mishap at 8 years of age. Otherwise, he enjoyed the good health until 10 years ago, heart trouble, with dropsical condition (strokes), returning intermittently every few weeks, until last fall when treatment failed to successfully respond. Although failing gradually during the winter, he was confined to bed only 3 weeks, when end of life peacefully came.
He is survived by one son, Forrest H; 2 granddaughters, Eleanor & Martha, all of Severence; and a host of friends of wide acquaintence.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Thursday afternoon, April 2nd, by Rev Fred Sawyer, of Crown Point, a lifelong friend and former neighbor; prayer being offered by local pastor, Rev W Campbell.
Interment in the family plot, Severence.

also, through another article was found:
Oliver's wife, Daniel's mother, was one Lucellia SMITH, daughter of Hiram Smith, pioneer citizen of Schroon.
Lucellia's sisters are Laura, who married Nathan Brooks and were prominent citizens of Schroon. Another sister is Adeline, who married Henry Daniels. Brothers are: William; Martin; Lyman; George & Hiram. Another brother, Abel, removed to California years prior to 1917, who Laura Smith Brooks deceased January 19.

That paper is a gold mine if you know names that you're looking for. Since I don't know all, I'm not sure what's revelant; however, in just say 2 sitdowns I've discovered much information that could be posted to the family trees that would open so many doors. I'm excited that such a wealth of information was published in the newspaper and all started with just one post.
and this is NOT my family, personally; just trying to help.
