He was a long time Central Texas community leader and he died Monday, 29 Mar 2004 folowing a stroke Sunday evening.
e was born in Ausitn, TX in 1936 to MAurine adn Willie I. Kocurek.
At 17, Neal Was salutatorian of his class at Austin High School while his father was president of teh Austin ISD Board of Trustees.
He earned his B.S., M.S. and PhD. Degrees in electrical engineering form the Univesrity of Texas at Austin and was an early employee pf Tracor, Inc. and assisted in the founding of two successful technical services and products companies, Unitech, Inc. and Radian International LLC. Radian grew from a group of enigneers who met in Neal's living room to a firm with offices worldwide.
In 1998, he retired from Radian and assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of St. David's Health Care System. He transitioned tje <edoca; Cemter into tje St. Davios' Partnership and imbued all Six Partnership hospitals with the charitable mission of S.t David. Neal was proud that the Partnership's hospitals provided more than $100 million in uncompensated care to the indigent and uninisured in 2003.
