And then again, I've seen on a couple of people search sites Kurt's name with all the correct family correlations in Burbank, Illinois. I was pretty sure my info on your dad came from reliable sources, but now I have to do my own research - I'll let ya know if I come up with anything.......

Hey, Angel, Kurt was a high school buddy of mine, I would imagine by now you know that he was fatally injured in a one car accident sometime in the late 80s, perhaps early 90's. I don't recall the details. He was a pretty decent guy, I believe he transferred to my high school his sophomore summer from Anderson, Indiana. We were kinda close thru school but eventually lost track of each other . Good hunting, hope you find what you're looking for.......

Oh how wonderful...unfortunately we are in the process of moving right now and I cannot send the photos until we are settled. In addition to the large family photos (2 were taken at the anniversary party..one of more immediate Koebbe family and one of more distant family), I have some small photos of "Randy Koebbe" who served as an attendant at my Uncle Clarence Winkler's first Mass at St. Aloysius Gonzaga: Randy is dressed in formal white short pants...very cute...is he related to anyone you know?
We are moving back to the St. Louis area after being on the East Coast for many years; in fact, my cousin Kathy and I just visited the Koebbe gravesites last week and put flowers on Ben and Charlotte's gravestone, as well as Bernard and Anna Koebbe's (my Great Grandparents). My maternal Grandmother was Mary Koebbe Winkler.
One of my cousins daughters has done a fantastic Family Tree of the Winkler/Koebbe...you can view it on Ancestry...look for karebaerheritage, or something like that.
I PROMISE to send you whatever photos I have as soon as we are unpacked and back in Ancestry; probably won't be until after January 1.
Have traced the ancestry of the George Bernard Koebbe who
married 1st to Louise Sikowski back to Germany in the 1760's.
He was the son of Bernard Heinrich Koebbe and Maria Elisabeth
Schriewer, grandson of John Bernard Koebbe and Maria Gesina
Hollenbach. John Bernard emigrated with his parents in 1839
to Germantown, Illinois.

I
am not a direct descendant but Ben's grandmother Caroline
Wilmes was a sister of my 4g-grandfather Bernard Wilmes.
Bernard and his family came over in 1853 and Caroline and
husband John Bernard Koebbe and children came over in 1868.

I have an 8 x 10 black and white wedding photo; it could be Alice M. Koebbe Dyer, or Loretta E. Koebbe Schaab? It is the bride and groom, plus 4 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen...looks like 1940 or so? The groom is the only one wearing eyeglasses. The women all have very large flower bouquets.
The Koebbe girls were my Mom's first cousins, and this photo was in my Mom's collection.

Mel and Mary Koebbe, (Francis Melvin Koebee)are listed on the mailing list for Hayes reunions held in various locations in Indiana and Illinois during the 40's, 50's and 60's. Their address is listed as 39 Sulphur Springs Road, Winston Park, Manchester, Missouri. I have a report that Melvin was born 18 Jan 1926 in St. Louis, MO and died 4 Oct 2009 in Gainesville, FL. He was married to Mary (Unknown) and had a son F. Steven Koebbe who died in 2005 in Gainsville FL. Since the Koebee's do not seem to have a direct connection to the Hayes, it probably through his wife Mary that a Hayes connection is made.

I would appreciate any information on Melvin Koebbe that may help me connect them to the Hayes family.

Thanks

Phil landes
landes1@yahoo.com

Yes, Shippy is my adopted name. My adopted father's family came from upstate New York (Niagara Falls, Lewiston, Sanborn) area. Before that they were from Rhode Island. The name has evolved from Sheppe, Shippee, Shippey, to current day Shippy. I currently live about half an hour from where the original David Shippee settled down from the Plymouth colonies in 1630's on Prudence Island next to Newport, RI. There are alot of Shippee's still here and in Rhode Island today. My grandfather went to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and my Aunt was born there but they were only there while he attended the University. They made their home in Niagara Falls and then Grand Island, New York. My grandfather Leon Shippy, Sr. was the only child of the second marriage of Oren Oscar Shippy who also had siblings from a previous marriage. None to my knowledge were from the area you mentioned. My married name is Koebbe but I have retained my maiden name of Shippy which I use now.

Montana Koebbe ? Washington Koebbe ?

Just wondering if anyone know if my Koebbe family is linked with the Koebbe family that lives in Montana ?

My father who I never met, that I wish I could meet is Kurt Joseph Koebbe, he has a brother names Mark and Eric Koebbe, a sister named Gene or Jean.

ANYWAYS, I saw that a Mark Joseph Koebbe had died in 2005 and was wondering if that could be my uncle...

ONE MORE THING: I read that a man named Kurt Koebbe in Washington had passed away, is this my dad ? Does anyone know of these families ?

Thanks, Angel Koebbe dob 1981 illinois

Dear Terry:

You are describing my great-grandfather perfectly! I can track him back on the censuses to 1900, where he is a musician enlisted at Fort Barrancas in Florida, with his hometown as Enochsburg, Indiana, but farther than that I cannot go!

Until I found your post here! And learned that he played the trombone!!! I am in heaven!

I sent you an e-mail but am afraid too much time has passed and the address is no longer valid. I hope you see this, or that another Koebbe researcher who recognizes your name will alert you to my message.

My fingers and toes are crossed that you will respond soon.

Bonnie
