I have a copy of “The Heartland: Ohio, Indiana, Illinois”, by Walter Havighurst, copyright 1962, which I would like to get back in the hands of descendants or family members of some of the people he wrote about. One of the sections in the book is about Gustavus Koerner, first schoolmaster of Belleville, IL, and a lawyer, a pallbearer for Abraham Lincoln, and the American minister to Spain and France.
