My grandmother, Anna Barbara Koerner, was born in Texas on 28 July 1851. She had one sister, Minnie, and a brother whose name I think was Charles. They were orphaned and she was adopted by a family in Illinois, her sister by the Spaulding family in Galveston.
Anna married Wilhelm Reitz III and Minnie's married name was Comiskey. The grandmother of Anna and Minnie was killed by Indians in the trek from Pennsylvania to Texas. None of this is documented.
