There were several records showing some Koerners in the military ancestry.com records whose rank was listed as "musician" -you probably already have those, but in case you haven't seen it ....My PGF's sister was Antonie Korner which is why I'd come across the info. She wasnt in the military but as limited as my success has been in family research, it was worth trying. Hope this helps.

Anton F. Koerner line

I am beginning to trace the dad's Koerner lineage. My great grandfather, Anton F. Koerner immigrated from Germany 1880 at 25 yrs of age and was married to Sophia Leland who was 23 when arriving in US. They arrived with 1 son Frank who was 1 year old. My grandfather, Herman Yale Koerner, was born but not sure when. I do know that Anton F. Koerner was a music professor in Norfolk VA. My brother has his music baton that he used as a professor of music. Does anyone have any history on this line of Koerner's?

I am interested in Rosina Barbara Ellinger Körner. She was married to Jakob Körner son of Gottfried and Christina Krimmer Körner. I have quite a lot of information on Jakob Körner but really nothing much on Rosina's extended family. She was born Sept. 1, 1803 in Aichelback, Wurttemberg, Germany to Johann Georg and Anna Maria Hagg Körner. Johann's parents were Christian Matthäus and Christina Katharine Auracher Ellinger. Christian's parents were Jakob and Elizabeth Magdalena Ellinger.

I don't have any siblins for Rosina, Johann, or Christian.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lois,
The easiest way I find to get to the IGI (International Genealogical Index) is:
Google: Wikipedia
scroll down to: External Links
enter last name: Reitz
enter region: Germany
enter State: Hessen
click on Search the IGI

The page will come up in the Family Search program.

I have found nearly all of my Grandfather's family there. You can check a box next to the ones you are interested in and it will let you print out a list of those. It is not so reliable, but it sure gave me information for those from Grafenhausen.

Have you ever been to a Mormon Library? They are all free of charge and the volunteers are most helpful.
I will be happy to know if this is any help for you.
Joan

I have a copy of Baptism of Wilhelm, my grandfather in the parish of Graefenhausen. It states he was born 12 Oct 1843, the ninth child, sixth son of Michael Reitz III and his wife, Elisabethe, nee Kuechler.Wilhelm arrived in the U.S. in 1868. He settled in Joliet, IL, married Anna Barbara Koerner in 1870. They had eleven children, the youngest was my Father, Frederick Reitz. Those who survived to adulthood were Phillip, William, John, Elzabeth, Anna Magdelena, Julia and my Father.Wilhelm died Sept. 1915 in Joliet, IL.
I looked in the IGI and found what I believe are some of the siblings of Wilhelm. All those were also baptized in Graefenhausen. Have you checked the IGI? I will need more time to dig for the names of Wilhelm's siblings if you want them.
Grafenhausen is near Darmstadt, Wilhelm always said he was from Darmstadt. Darmstadt is just south of Frankfort.
Wishing you good luck!
Joan

Your line is the one I am leaning towards except that Kenneth Koerner wastold that his father died in an accident in the 30s and your Walter died in the 1970s

It appears that Walter married twice. do you know when he married? I traced him to maryland with a daugher listed in the 1930 census. How would we be able to find out if he worked in Minnesota in the 30's? I have tried contacting Bethlehem Steel

thank you for your response. I am not the Koerner but my brothre-in-law is. All he knlow is that his father was born in PA and as and engineer for Bethlehm steel This i documented on his BC. There was quite an age differnce between Walter and Margaret.

If you hear anything about Walter and time he may have spent in Minnesota.

Have a good reunion

I have found one Walter allen Koerner born 1888 in PA who was an engineer for Bethlehem Steel BUT he died in the 70's and my Walter Allen Koerner was supposed to have died around 1935 to 1940 in an accident in Minnesota while working on a bridge. Can you shed any light on this?

Hello Roy,

I think, the thread originally was about my great grand uncle's line Max and his daughter Arlene. They have descendents in Hartford, CT.
Max is a son of my ancestor Franz Robert Koerner, wo lived in Gablenz, but destining from Russdorf, Seelingstaedt and others. These are all towns on the border between Thuringia and Saxony. Since the name Koerner (or in my line becoming Kaerner) is not a seldom name, please tell me more. Do you know, where was Gottfried born?

Greetings from Germany, Marleen
I am a descendant of Gotthold Koerner and had often wondered if there was any link between the Sheffield and Bradford Koerners - particularly as both families seem to have been part of the Yorkshire pork butcher mafia.
However as far as I can trace there is no family link. The Sheffield Koerners definitely came from Sindelfingen in Wuerttemberg - along with a number of others.
The Bradford Koerners seem to have links with Niedernhall- Kunzelsau which is also in Wuerttemberg but quite a long way from Sindelfingen.
The Sheffield Koerners retained the family name during WW1 but, in order to prove their patriotism, claimed to have come from Heligoland (untrue) which had been a British island !
The 1925 picture of Korner family wedding picture shows my GGM wearing a small tiara- my GGF is wearing an unusual pin with 3 points-the tall son-in-law(his name is Helgo Klar) in the right corner of the picture is also wearing a pin, different from my GGF.
Is anyone familiar with the 3-pointed pin? Anyone know if there is any signifigance of pin wearing or tiara wearing for that matter? Since technology has advanced, Ive been able to zoom on the pin and actually see the shape if not the fine details. Perhaps it's just a decorative fashion of the times and will not provide any clue at all.-Thanks for your time and any comments.

Hi Marleen: I was hoping to hear more from you concerning Korner/ Koerner German Roots. Gottfried Korner born 1810 in Schwartzburg-Sondershausen, Prussia was my Great Great Great Grandfather. I have a clear Koerner line back to him, but no further back. Or any other information at all about him and his time in history. Gottfried married Christina Schmidt in Prussia and along with their first son, Charles D. Koerner, they came to America in May of 1848. They settled in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area where all of my Koerner decendants have lived up to present times. I still live just 40 miles from where Gottfried lived out his life here in Pennsylvania and where he is buried. I will be doing some cemeterey research as soon as this winter and snow is replaced by spring. I can' wait. I am new at the ancestry game and very excited by it all. Any information you may have would be appriciated or even pointing me in the right direction to research German ancestory on my own. I will most likely need someone whom can translate German helping me??? Can I write back to you? thank you for your time and consideration. Barney Roy W. Koerner : Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. You can reach me at : barneysworld@zoominternet.net

Hi, and Thanks for replying. I may not be replying to the person that I thought wrote the tread...? Seems I need to find Barbara Tanzer. she seems related some how to my family of Koerners. Gottfried Koerner born 1810 in Schwarzburg-Soindershausen, Prussia came to Pennsylvania with his wife and son Charles D. Koerner, born in 1837 ( in Prussia) The family tree hand written in my baby book by my Father, Harry Albert Koerner of Pittsburgh traces back thru my Fathers Great Grand Father Charles D. Koerner , we know Charles father was Gottfried, I expected to go no further, but reading some of these threads, I see that Barbara Tanzer whom I have been trying to reach, thru her research has found a Johann Christoph Korner from Rausdorf, who had a son Johann Gottfried Korner in Thueringen. That is where I am now trying to build on that direction...Another thread mentions possibly a brother Frederick Christian Koerner who came to America together or near the same time as Gottfried. I am brand new at this so please excuse my redundancy. I am very excited and interested to say the least. I am presently off work with an injury and have lots of time to dig... Thank you for your time and anything you have to contribute or even direction I can look. Sincerely, Roy Koerner , Koerners of Pittsburgh PA/ Korners of Germany.

The Koerners that I know used to hold a reunion on Henry Koerner's farm in the countryside outside of Clarks Summit. This Henry Koerner was my grandmother's nephew. Her brother Heinrich's son.
I noticed that Promised Land State Park is just north of Canadensis. I'm familiar with Canadensis, as my mother and father used to go golfing there. Where is Koerner Road? is it in Promised Land?

My maternal grandmother Lisette (Lucetta) Koerner arrived in the U.S. from Dortmund, Germany along with her mother Henriette Schilp Koerner and six brothers and sisters in Aug of 1892. They came via the ship the Rotterdam that left from Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Her father Bernhard (Bernard) Koerner had arrived on the same ship 3 months earlier in 1892 along with two oldest sons Heinrich and August who were 21 yr old twins. They initially settled in a little town in the Poconos. Later, they moved to Dunmore, just outside of Scranton. Bernhard and Henriette Koerner are buried in the Dunmore Cemetary. Their son Fred (Friedrich) is also buried there. He died in a coal mine accident. Is it possible that some of your inlaws are related to these Koerners? Some of the names of my grandmother's sisters and brothers were: Bertha, Lina, Emma, Ida, Henry, Fred, Carl, & August. I know that one of these girl siblings married a Bentler who had a farm somewhere in the Poconos not far from Scranton, because my grandmother used to visit her sister who married a Bentler and lived on this farm. The Bentlers also had a set of twin sons - one of these sons died in a farming accident with a saw. My grandmother Lisette (Lucette) Koerner married Joseph McNulty and had 9 children. She lived most of her life in Scranton.
I would appreciate any information that you may have.
