Classification: Query
Surnames: Kohlgraf, Kolgraff, Kollgraff, Kolegraff, Brueggan
The earliest record of this branch of the Kohlgraf family is a marriage record dated 02 Oct 1729: Johann Kohlgraff (sic) married Odilia Schmitz in Brühl, a village near the city of Cologne, Germany. His son Hubert (also called Lambert in some records) married Margaretha Keller in Büsdorf in 1776. Hubert/Lambert's second son Mathias married Maria Catharina Könen in 1813, and lived at Sinsteden, near the village of Rommerskirchen. Their son Hubert Kohlgraf married Anna Maria Brueggan.

Hubert and Anna Maria Kohlgraf brought their family from Germany to the USA in 1857. They settled in the area of St. Mary's Ridge in Monroe County, Wisconsin, and later moved to Spink County, Dakota Territory in about 1882.

They had five children: Catharina, married John Feilbach and lived in WI; Gerhard, married Elisabeth Ross in 1871and lived in Chicago, IL; Christina, married Joseph Gross in 1872 and lived in MN and later in Cascade, IA; Philipp, married Mary Deming in 1878 and lived in Wabasha County, MN, and later in Hand and Faulk Counties, SD; Adam, married Katherine Edrich, and lived in Spink Co., SD, and later in ND.

Alternate spellings: Kollgraff, Kolgraff, Kolegraff, Kohlgraff, Kolgraf, Collgraff, Kolgraf!

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has info for this surname. I have information to share on individuals in several generations (and branches!) of this family!

Thank you!
