Hi, I do not believe your William is related to mine.
There are several Kohls.
Mine were born in Germany, then came to Wisconsin and several moved to Chicago and some to Wisconsin Rapids area and one to Beloit area.
Keep checking. There is a Ken Kohls looking for info too on the site.

William Edward Kohls passed away in march 07. he was my grandpa Ken is my uncle. i would like to know about my family tree but theres so many kohls is difficult to get the right kohls

Your wife and I are related for sure if she's Franks great-great granddaughter. He's my great-grandfather. His daughter, Mary, was my grandmother. I have several pictures of the family -- a couple of them from Prussia.

We only have one Steve in our family tree and he does not live in Pa.
I think perhaps you may belong to the other Kohls family who is not relation.
They live in Manitowoc and Two Rivers.
If you go on switchboard.com and click on person and then type in the name Kohls for Wisconsin, you may come up with that family.
That will give you their addresses.

I don't know anything about Franz' ancestors but what I do know is that the family first emigrated to
Cleveland, Ohio.

Franz became a naturalized citizen in North Platte, NE.

He married Bertha Sonneman but I don't know where.

Frankly, I'm old and not a computer person. I have four
or five photos of Franz in my FT scrapbook but don't
have a clue on how I can send them to you. There are a couple of him in a Prussian army/calvary uniform.

My husband's ancestor, Johann Christian Kohls, immigrated from Prussia in 1854 at the age of 18. We believe he was from the Stuttgart area and from his marriage certificate, we learned the names of his parents -- Michael and Susan. Does this fit with any of your information.

Melissa: We are 2nd cousins 1 removed. My grandfather Edward Kohls is a brother to your ggrandfather Fred. I have the family group sheets for most of the Kohls family mentioned in the Centennial book from Litchfield published in 1986. Do you know the name of your g-grandmother's siblings and where they settled? We do not know the name of our g grandfather's siblings except when he died in 1923 he had one brother left in Germany according to his obit. Our g grandfather was Julius or Ferdinand. He used both names.

Charles was the s/ Mr & Mrs Otto Kohls. He married Lillian Ann Jones @ St George Cathlolic Church in Kenosha, WI on
3 Oct 1925. His survivors are his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Dorothy) Hanrath of Kenosha, and Mrs. Leon (Louise) Manley of St Louis, MO, a brother George of Kenosha, 2 sisters, Mrs Clifford Zoener & Mrs Peter Wenchell (maybe Elizabeth) of Kenosha. 2 brothers preceded him in death,
William & Arthur. This is info from one obit of the Kenosha News.

We were in contact about a year and a half ago. Somehow we lost contact. I have pictures of Henry and Caroline Lagemann Kohls and Bernard (Ben) and Anna Siemon Kohls. I also have, I believe the wedding picture of Harry Kohls and Phyllis Verkamp. Interested?

I believe the parents of Elizabeth Schoettler Kohls was John &
Elizabeth Everhardt Schoettler. The father of Elizabeth Everhardt was Herbert. All these names were born in Germany....jimsch24@yahoo.com

I have a Elixabeth Schoettler Kohls in my notes. I may have info on Elabeth's mother. My notes list the same names of children of Elizabeth and Otto with the rxception of Arthur.

David, I have Koors relation, and wondered if by any chance any of them were mentioned in your book. John Henry Koors born abt 1809 Germany married to Mary or Maria Kalkmann or Kakmann, immigrated to OH, 3 children, my gr gpa Bernard Henry Koors born abt 1843 Cincinatti OH area, and 2 sisters Mary and Anna. They moved on to Effingham IL area, any connection? Thanks Paula

As far as I can tell it would not fit either of my Claras. Clara J Berg Kohls would be about 51 years old in 1930 and Clara Kohls would only be a toddler. I have not found any of my Kohls line in Illinois. Most were born, lived and died in Milwaukee Wisc. area.

We have emailed each other before trying to find a connection BUT now I found in 1930 census a Clara Kohls was living with my husbands g uncle in Chicago, Illinois and she was a boarder and age 25. Does this fit with your clara?

Elizabeth Wenchell, 86, a resident of Woodstock Kenosha Health Center, died there Thursday (Oct. 22, 1987). ) The daughter of the late Otto and
( Elizabeth Schoetler) , Kohls, she was born Aug. 24, 1901, in Kenosha. She attended local schools, including St. George Parochial School.
On Sept. 14, 1920, in St. George Catholic Church, she married Peter Wenchell. He died Feb. 10. 1980.
She was a member of St. George Church and charter and lifetime member of the Christian Mothers Society of the parish. Surviving her is a sister, Mrs.
'Clifford (Margaret) Zoerner,
Kenosha. She was preceded in death by
four brothers, William, Charles, George and Arthur
The Lendman-Mischler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

My grandfather Lewis (Lucas) Kohls, born 1869 Ky,married Necia Varney in Livingston Co. Mo.

His father Johann Bernard (John) or Barney, Married Mary Elizabeth Lange, both born in Germany. Came to the US, by 1845 or sooner.

Johann had a brother Henry Harman Kohls married to Kate (sometimes referred to as Mary). They moved from KY to IN.

His father Herman, Harman Kohls, married to Katherine Beckman both of Germany.

ANY help with this family will be MOST appreciated. I am glad to share any data that I have.

My 3rd great grandmother was Wilhelmine Kohls, born 1853. Immigrated approximately 1893 with husband Herman F. W. Klabunde. We believe they came from Stettin Germany (northeast corner, now Poland).

No. I am stuck at the sibling and parents of Wilhelmine Kohls. The only other info I have is her exact dates: b.7/12/1853 and d.10/15/1927. They died in Two Rivers, WI. And I found them on the 1900 census in West Kewaunee, WI.

We have John Christian Kohls, born Dec 1835 in the Stuttgard area, immigrated to America in 1854. Was a Civil War volunteer from Greene County, WI. Married Tamar Matilda Cumley. Later lived in McGregor, Clayton Co., IA. His parents were Michael and Susanna. Would like any information about his ancestry.

Its been 3 years since your message was posted but was going thru all the Kohls info on the board. My Great Grandfather William Kohls married Matilda Westphal. I have lots of infomation about his family in Litchfiel NE and of my granddad Edward Kohls who lived in CO where I live.

I was told by a lister that this couple emigrated from Germany to US in 1879. William was born in Dec. 1844 in Prussia and Fredericke was born October 1848 in Heinruhsfeld, Germany (near Labes). Their daughter Sophia married in 1911 Ephraim REGNIER (born 1868 in Kansas) s/o Joseph and Mathilda . This was a second marriage for Ephraim who had been previously married to Lydia YONNALLY in 1892 and had a daughter Nanette (?) (1893-1917)who married Jean FRITZLER in 1917. Ephraim and Sophia had a daughter Rosemary (born 1912) who married Theodore BENTZ in 1947.
I am looking for dates, places, and history of these couples.

Hi Nancy my mother`s name is Inge Kohls and her father`s name was Theopil Kohls. They came from the north eastern part of Germany (which is now Poland) My mother has some records I`m just waiting for copies of them! Do you know anywhere else I could check on the Kohls family tree???

Wow it's been a few years since I've done any research! It just so happens my mother is stopping by to visit me on her way back from Germany next week :) Maybe we can find out some more answers from her as now there are only her and her sister left to tell me :)
