My grandmother was the youngest of thirteen children. I would think that there would be several Koniks in the area somewhere but I haven't connected with them yet. I know she was in contact with them when she was alive but all of her papers were given to a different side of the family and lost now.

My name is Jason Konik and Częstochowa makes a bit of sense. My father was born in Rabka, a town in Małopolska between Krakow and Zakopane. However, his family is not originally from Rabka. They arrived there "from the west," probably Silesia, because one of my ancestors fought for Prussia in the wars of the 1860's. I'm told that same ancestor left Silesia for Austrian Małopolska shortly thereafter because he didn't like being in the Prussian army. The exact place from whence he came is a mystery...but if there are other Koniks in Częstochowa, I wonder...

Unfortunately we don't know the names of my grandmothers siblings. All communications stopped with my aunts passing and we never found out about that side of the family. We know they were writing to people back in Poland. Grandma was really hard to understand until we got older so she showed us papers instead when we asked about her life. She told us where she was from and how big her family was and the names of her parents but not a whole lot more.sorry I can't be more helpful. Grandma married Joseph Rudzik and settled in Detroit, MI.

I have been trying to follow a Julian Konik (born 1863) who immigrated in early 1900s, who may be my gr-grandmother's brother. Her name was Anna (born 1866), who married Franciszek Atlalski. They all went to Pennsylvania, but cannot find them after immigration. Suspect they returned to Poland.

Does this sound familiar? What are names of your grandmother and the 13 children? Where did your grandmother settle?

My grandmother came from a family of 13 children. She was the youngest one, born in 1893. They lived in Czestochowa, Poland. Her fathers name was Martin Konik and her mother was Mary (Mauiza). Does anyone have any information on this family? I know she kept in touch with relatives still in Poland while she was alive. She came to the states in 1912.
