My children perhaps trace back to Barent Jacobszen Cool through their mother's side. She descends from the Dutchers. I used Frank J. Doherty's SETTLERS OF BEEKMAN PATENT as my guide to the Dutcher family.
I show Peternella Van Vredenburgh marrying David Dutcher in 1735. Peternella's grandmother was Appolonia Barents Cool, and I think that Appolonia's father was Barent Jacobszen Cool, a man who is ancestor to a great many Americans by now.
I show Barent Jacobszen Cool married to Marretje Leenderts, but I am not sure whether Barent was married more than once. Also "Jacobzen, Kool Barrent" took the Oath of Allegiance to the King of King of England after New York fell to the English. Same person? Did more than one Dutch colonial use this name?
I welcome any help in confirming or correcting my data. The Dutch naming system confuses many researchers, including me, and I see various versions of the same information on the Internet,
