Hi,

I am gathering information on my family and am searching for information about black Koonce's in Craven and Lenoir counties. The furthest back that I can go is to my great-grandfather Barfield Koonce who in the 1900 ensus was residing with his grandfather, James Koonce.

I know that in this area there was a large white Koonce family and I am convinced that my family must have been their slaves, so am also interested in any records of slaves of the white Koonce families in these counties.
