John D (Dawson) Koontz, 1800s in Frederick Co.,Maryland, then Iowa
My g/g/grandfather is John D(awson) Koontz, who is listed in a household near John Koontz (his father?) in Frederick County, Maryland. From what I can glean, John D. married Julia Anna Ambrose in 1847. They were married for many years, but apparently had no children.
I've been trying to find out what happened to Julia Anna (also Julianna in census records). (Just curious.)
Sometime between 1860 and 1870, John D. married Cyntha Englebright, who was much younger than John D. They had two children, Wilford and May, before they moved to Liscomb, Iowa. Wilford was my great-grandfather. Wilford moved to Pasadena, California, where my grandfather, Headley John Koontz, was born in 1895.
I would enjoy hearing from anyone who can provide more information about John D., Wilford, and Headley (and their wives and children).
