Sorry Archaeolady. I thought I had included the date for the obit: 19 JAN 1904. And I'm glad you liked the info.

Funny you hitting the brick wall with the Fuldheims, because I hit a similar wall trying to trace the Slocums. Nothing on the 1900 or 1910 censuses. How'd you find the newspaper article on Ray's death? There's a little item in the Plain Dealer when she and Lester married, and how the family knew about it, but wouldn't talk about it. I'm thinking maybe she was a little impulsive or hot-tempered!

No, I have no relation to the family at all. I was following part of the family and I make corrections whenever I can in Ancestry. (though not lately, since I have no subscription anymore) If you would like to know more about the family, contact me at pklein5ATgmail.com.

Lazarus Fuldheim born March 1827 and Regina Ailringer born Dec 1836 in Germany, lived in Cleveland, Ohio

Thank you so very much for the obituary of Lazarus Fuldheim with several family member names. You have helped me learn about my family heritage and given me the names of my great great grandparents and the city Koblenz, Germany, where they immigrated from and possible were born. I would have never been able to learn my family history without your help, because we only knew the 1 clue about the shoe store in Cleveland, Ohio!

My grandmother Florence Ruth Slocum was only 6 years-old when her mother Rachel "Ray" Fuldheim Slocum died in 1908, so she never knew the name of Ray's parents: Lazarus and Regina Ailringer [typed as Culminger in error for marriage record translation online.]

Also, Thank you for giving me the names of my g-g grandmother Regina's parents Asher Ailringer and Yetta Fuldheim Ailringer.

I enjoyed learning about g-g uncle Meyer / Morris Fuldheim and g-g aunt Caroline Fuldheim Marx and their family members too!

I am a professional archaeologist whose hobby for 16 years is researching family history. Although, I was trained through a Masters Degree program to study heritage resources and research their related documents, I hit a brick wall with finding Fuldheim documents.

My family tree was empty of names and you have filled in many blank spaces, but also you have helped me fill a deep void in my heart from not knowing who my Fuldheim ancestors were.

Are you related to the Fuldheim family? What date was the obituary for Lazarus Fuldheim published?

I have too much data to send in this little e-mail, but here's Lazarus' obit, from the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

LAZARUS FULDHEIM DEAD.
Former Active Business Man and Old Resident of City Passes Away Suddenly.
Lazarus Fuldheim, one of the pioneer residents of this city, died suddenly at 8:45 o’clock last night of heart failure. The funeral services will be held from Mayfield chapel tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock. The services will be conducted by Rabbi Machol. The interment will be in Mayfield cemetery. Mr. Fuldheim was 77 years of ago.
He was born in Coblenz, Germany, and came to this country and to Cleveland in 1850. He has been a resident of this city since that time. For the last fifteen years Mr. Fuldheim had led a quiet life, having retired from active business because of his advanced age. Previous to his retirement he was actively engaged in various lines of trade.
Though he had been in poor health for some time, his death was entirely unexpected by members of his family. His children had planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their parents’ marriage on Feb. 13.
Mr. Fuldheim is survived by his widow, Mrs. Regina Fuldheim, and by four sons and three daughters. They are: Meyer Fuldheim, M.E. Fuldheim, R.L. Fuldheim, E.M. Fuldheim, Miss Cora Fuldheim, Mrs. J. Firth, all of Cleveland, and Mrs. Ray Slocum of Geneva, O.
***********
He came to Cleveland 1850. Pallbearers were his sons, Jacob Firth, Samuel Fuldheim and Isidor Ailringer.

He had a brother Meyer/Morris and a sister Caroline, who married Marx and lived in NYC. He married Regina Ailringer 13 FEB 1854 in Cleveland. Regina's parents were Asher Ailringer, who died in Cleveland in 1870, aged 69, and Yetta Fuldheim.

I noticed that you posted a correction for Lazarus Fuldheim's name on the 1860 census. Please send me any information that you have on the Fuldheim families in Ohio. My great grandmother was Rachel Fuldheim born in October 1876 and died on January 21, 1908. Her death notice stated that she was the daughter of a shoe store owner in Cleveland.
In 1899, she married Lester "Leslie" J. Slocum. On the 1900 census they were living in in Geneva-On-The-Lakes, Ashtabula County, Ohio. She had 4 children, including my grandmother Florence Ruth Slocum born around 1906 , Gladys, and George. Grandmother Florence was only 6 years-old when her mother died. Florence only knew that her mother was Jewish and Rachel's parents were born in Germany.
According to a newspaper, immediately before she died, she got angry at her husband, traveled another city, checked into a hotel under that alias name of Mrs. Raymond. I will appreciate any information that you have for the family history.
Eddie Korach, b. abt. 1911, was the son of M.U. Korach and Lillie Hain. Lillie's parents, Edward and Estelle, lived in New York in 1870, San Francisco in 1880. Estelle died in SF in 1882, Edward in Tacoma in 1907. The firm of Korach and Bloom (both Hungarians) operated in Tacoma around 1900 and in Skagway Alaska in 1903.The Korachs moved to Akron, Ohio, by 1920, along with Lillie's sister, Gertrude Heinemann. By 1930 both were listed as widows. I am researching Tacoma's Jewish merchants and looking for descendants. Let's talk!

searching Korach relatives

My maternal grandmother was Fanny Korach born in the Austro-Hung. empire, and married Yeshaya Kohn in Koshice Slovakia. I was born in their house.
I was told there are many Korachs around the world and probably all related. I don't know any of them, barely remember my grandmother.
I'd love to discover Korachs, relatives or not. It's quite an unusual name, and interestingly, there are Yemenite Jews also called Korach!

Susanna Mayer, Ph.D.
Haifa, Israel,
may@netvision.net.il
Hello Carolyn, can you tell me if any of Ivan and and Magdalena's sons were named George or Albert? My father in laws father was George. But I can't seem to get beyond that. I know he was born in Yugoslavia in 1890. What about your grandfather? Where was he born? Look forward to hearing from you. Patti

I have/had relatives in Akron, Ohio. The
person whose name I have is Eddy Korach who
sent a picture of his and my father's great-grandparents and grandparents. He sent the picture to my father in 1957 and we found it 6 years ago going through my father's things after he died. If you think we're related, please contact me either throught ancestry.com or at tootsfolks@aol.com. Thanks.

Hi Bill. I'm sorry but I don't have much information. When my father died seven years ago and we were sorting through his papers I came upon a photograph from an Eddie Korach in Akron, Ohio. The note accompanying the photograph said that the people in the photo were my father's great-
grandparents and his grandmother as well as
Eddie's mother and Rose's father. It was dated 1957. Eddie said he had sent a copy to Rose but never heard back from her. I have no idea what Rose's last name would have been. The letterhead on the paper was from L. Albert and Son in Akron, Ohio, a division of Bellanca Aircraft Corp. That's all I've got. If you ever get any more info please let me know. I'm sorry for the delay in answering you. :) Joyce

Hello Joyce,
I saw your posting on the Rootsweb Korach page. My g-grandmother was Bertha Korach. Many of her family immigrated from Hungary and settled in Cleveland. On my tree I have an Emil Korach, a first cousin of Bertha's who moved to Akron. His wife's name was Lillian Hain b. 14 Jul 1874 and died 15 Jan 1957 in Akron. They did have a son named Edward Korach born 1907 died in 1967 in Los Angeles. He had no children.

I believe these are the Korachs you are looking for. Many of the people on the rootsweb board are searching the Yugoslavian Korachs. However the rest are mostly Hungarian Jews and are all related to each other.

Good Luck,

Roger Cibella
Seattle, WA

I was browsing thru some of the family history pages and noticed your messages. I don't have any info except that my mother (who would be about 60-62 yrs old) and her family are Korach's from Yugoslavia. Do you have a lot of info on their family tree?? I may have some info.

Thank you.

Bill
