Ferndale, formerly of Erie, died July 27, 2008, at home. Born June 26, 1929, in Erie, son of Albert R. and Coletta (DeHarde) Korn. Preceded in death by parents and an infant brother. Survived by wife, Elaine (Wingenbach); children, Mark, and companion, Anita Mesich, Greensburg; Kathy, married to Gary Gray, Carmel, Ind.; Patty, married to Chris Rutledge, Johnstown, and Jim, married to Sumitra Ghate, Indianapolis; brothers and sisters, Bob, Sun City, Ariz.,
Sister Colette, Erie,
Jerry, Sun City, Ariz,
Laura Schwenk, Erie, Tom, Warren, Pa.,
and Audrey Riazzi, Erie;
and grandchildren, Gary; Kristen, married to Nick, Tricia, Michael, Matthew, Jenna, and Megan also many special friends. Member of the Elks, Harmonie Singing Society and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, where he actively volunteered. He was an avid golfer, wintering in Arizona. Family and friends were his life, and he was very involved in his grandchildren’s activities. Retired supervisor from GTE with 38 years of service. A Korean War veteran. Friends received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Father Angelo Patti. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church. Al will be sadly missed by who knew and loved him. He enjoyed making people laugh as hetried to make a difference in their lives.
