George and Mary Kornegay were my Great uncle and aunt. I don't know where Andrew was born, but it might be Al. They are buried in a small town in Ga.George was married three or four times.Andrew was married first to Berthell Edwards,one son. Next to Margie Cobb, one son,James Lee. Next to Bertha ?
two children, Albert and Andy.

Andrew Lee Kornegay (1 November 13, 1913 - 21 August 1981) died in Leon County, Florida. son of George and Mary Kornegay. Andrew was born in Georgia (the 1930 census says). His father, George, was born in Alabama. George was the son of John Willis K. who moved from NC to Al with his family. John W. K. was the son of George K - from Dover, NC. (or so they say - not my branch).

I am looking for Andrew Lee Kornegay born pos close to 1914 pos in Fla. Was known to be from Fla and may have been in Tn in 1945. Any help tracing this man would be very helpful. It would be nice to know what Kornegay branch he came from also. Was there a branch that went to Fla? I have found a burial site of an Andrew Lee Kornegay in Gladsen Fla not for sure if he is the one or not.

There was a George F. Kornegay who was a newspaper editor in Brownwood, TX in the 1890's then later in Dalhart, TX. around the turn of the century. By the 1920's, he was the pastor of a Methodist church in Burleson. If this rings a bell with anyone, reply here. I have some interesting info about him.

I'm a decendant of Gorge K. of Bibb County, AL. He was decendant of Gorge K. in New Bern, NC. There is a book on Haysop Baptist Church in Bibb County, writen by Charles E.
Boyd. It contains the Kornegay family back to Jamestown.
My grandmother was Frances Kornegay, dau. of William Wallace Kornegay. John and Sevil Kornegay moved to Bibb
County Al. from New Bern N.C. about 1820 via Smith County
TN. Fances married John Robert Stewart and my mother was Pearl stewart, she was married to James Williams. My GGrandfather was Columbus Williams and he is as far back as
I can trace.

On the lineage of W.W. Kornegay I very sorry I forgot to include John between Felix Barney and Jacob. The death date was also put in wrong for W. W. it is 15 Nov 1992. We have gotten the date of death for Hester which is 06 Jun 2002.

We came across some info stating that Woodrow Wilson (W.W.) Kornegay was married to a Barbara Rose Herron that part of their info is incorrect. We have not found where the correct info has been stated. Barbara Rose was married to the youngest child of Daniel Arsamus which was:

i've tried a couple of times over the years to get Mr Quinn to add the death year of Ida Jackson Kornegay (daughter of William and Susan Winders Korengay and my great grandmother) but never recieved any response.
As to how much one can trust a researcher, well it depends on your needs and the researcher's reputation. But you can certainly use it to help you do your own research for wills, etc.

This is in response to renescott35: Sorry about the loss of your mom...To answer your question my Kornegay family came out the Duplin and Wayne Counties in NC. There are still some family members in Mount Olive, Goldsboro, Dudley, and several other parts of North Carolina. The extended family can currently be found in VA, PA, SC, NY and MD to name a few other places. When I started my research I didn't know very much about this part of the family but over the last several years I've learned quite a bit. Which Kornegays are you looking for? I am currently researching my AF-AM Kornegay/Carnegie Family from NC. And it just so happens that I ran across an individual by the name of ROBERT CLAYTON CARNEGIE who was originally from NC but later settled in GA. I believe that he may have changed the spelling of his name from KORNEGAY to CARNEGIE, for whatever reason. I also believe that was a relative of mine. He died in Apr. of 1995 in GA. His wife was Euphemia Lula Bass. The surnames that you posted in your query (HUNTER, CARNEGIE, KORNEGAY, and JOHNSON) are collateral surnames that fall within my research which is primarily the reason I'm responding to your query. Robert C. Carnegie may have been the person that you are looking for. Try searching in DeKalb Co., GA which was his last known residence before his death. His wife passed away in Jan. 2006 also in GA. I hope this helps.

I am having the hardest time finding info on my Great Grandfather John Giles kornegay. He grew up in Mt. Olive and later moved to Portsmouth, Va. I believe he was buried back in Mt. Olive. His wife was Sallie Heath and they had two sons Perry Randolph Kornegay(my Grandfather)and John Giles Kornegay(family history states that he moved to Puerto Rico and was an importer(?).If anyone out there can be of assistance I will be most appreciative.

You posted on the day of my mothers birthday! She has sinced passed away-May 2002, but I dont know much about this side of my family. My mother and her many siblings grew up in Grifton, NC. I am still suspicious that my William Dixon Cornagey is actually from this family. I guess what I am asking here is how sure is everyone of the information given in the family tree? Who did the research and what is the documentation? Family lore has it that Williams mother died when he was young so that would fit. What about the birth dates of the children? Are they also documented? I have looked EVERYWHERE for this guy and he does not appear on any census as we know him until his is in his 20's and married.(no insult intened to anyone, if everything is well documented just curious as to what the documentation is)

The research was done by J.B. "Jerry" Quinn, it appears, since the link is from his website. All I know is that I often see other Kornegays refer to the site as a reference, and I'm not aware of anyone finding any inaccuracies there.
Jerry Quinn's email addy is on that site and I imagine he would answer any questions you have about his documentataion.

Thomas Caskey Kornegay's death certificate is now online at FamilySearch.org. The certificate says his mother's name is Anna Reaves, as reported by Wm J. Kornegay.

Hmmm...that's interesting...thanks for sharing that. I was thinking of sending him a continuation of my half-sister's, family (Sylvia Lane Kornegay Hoffacker, whose great grandfather was Edward Augustus Kornegay), but maybe Mr. Quinn is no longer researching the Kornegays.

I really do not know for sure. I recently talked to Shirley, aunt Ethel's Daughter and She told me about Larry Passing away. I am so sorry to hear that. I can say it has been a while since I saw you last. I am living here in Andalusia Al with my mom. Your Aunt Myrtle.
