Thanks to an Ancestry lead, I found my great-great grandfather's baptismal record (Moriz Kornmeier) in the village of Steinach in 1842. Am trying to locate Kornmeiers in that area today to see if they know more.

Well, Kornmeier's are few and far between. Let me try and clean up the Florida/Georgia clan. Oscar Kornmeier came from Germany in about 1913--he worked and lived in the Restaurant industry, Detroit-Huhn's Restaurant, Denver--Brown Derby. Nothing is really known how he got from a penniless immigrant in NY to a headwaiter/manager at the then leading restaurants in Detroit, Denver and Florida ? (Hunds, Brown Derby, RiverCrest Farms)His son, my father Frank Sr. was born in Denver. His mother, Oscar's wife was Corinne. We don't know anything about her as she died early, we hear that cancer and alcohol was the cause. Oscar and Corinne also had a daughter, Aunt Sis, Marion Elizabeth (don't confuse this Marion with Dad's future second wife, Marion Drury from Wisconsin). She married a Leonard (Len) Renner and lived for years in Minneapolis. Her sons, Leonard Jr., Frankie and Bobbie are still in the twin cities area, I think. While they are my cousins I haven't seen any of them since the early 1950's! Wait, Lenny did come to Florida in the 60's sometime. Somehow Dad and Oscar then moved on to Detroit from Denver and Dad then went to Minneapolis. Somewhere in these years, Oscar met Marie who I always assumed was my real grandmother. In the early 1950's or late 40's Oscar moved to Ft. Lauderdale,FL. His son followed in 1955, dragging me and Terry Kornmeier my bro, with him. Our older brother Frank Jr. and our sister, Sandra Kornmeier/Potts stayed with our real mother, Audra Schaeffer (some spell it differently her family was from Bleckley West Virginia area) and Dad were divorced in early 195?. Dad met Marion Drury who he later married and who was the only real mother to Terry and me.
Oscar did in fact have some brothers in Germany. The only place he ever mentioned was Baden Baden. And he never went back to Germany. I asked him once about his family and he shrugged it off--I often wondered though, if he came here in 1913 and never correponded with family, where did he get all those actual photos of Hitler? Sandy Kornmeier/Potts has the pictures today. Wow, a whole family history in just a few paragrphs. Well we could update the kids. Terry Kornmeier: Nicole, Robyn, Leslie, Terry Jr. (deceased), Richard: Richard Jr., Jamie Lynn Kornmeier both of whom live near Bainbridge GA. (there is another Jamie Kornmeier in MI) Frank Kornmeier Jr: Sheri, Debi and step children. Jerry Kornmeier, Elizabeth, Carla, Carole(deceased)
Frank married Evelyn (Eve) and to my knowledge was the first Kornmeier to stay married to the same woman till death due us part.
Medical history? If that's important. Oscar died from colon cancer, 72?, Aunt Sis, cancer of the liver(drinking) early 50's?, Frank Sr. stroke, circulation, heart age 62, Audra Kornmeier my real mother, 69?, empheysma?, Terry Kornmeier Sr. Pancreatic cancer, Terry Kornmeier Jr. drowned,
At this point there are no more males in this part of the clan. There is a chance yet that Richard Kornmeier Jr. will produce some male progeny. What else? I was born in Providence RI. 1946--Dad was in the Navy, Terry in Denver, 1945?, Frank Jr. Denver? Sandra?

Hey. Didn't mean to insult you, I guess your side of the family never really got a fair shake--I wasn't sure what you were all about. I know for certain Oscar was the first one who came here from Germany. Don't have to give up on search-we're not all that bad, and it can be fun. Uncle Rick is great, we keep in touch with them too. Debi was down to see Marion not too long ago, she cleaned her bathroom and grandma Marion yelled at her, it was pretty funny. My Mom, Eve died in February. We knew your dad was sick but never heard about when he actually died. My respects of course. If you ever want to email, let me know :) It'd be nice to know how things have turned out for you.

i thought grandpa frank was born in germany too? guess not. i need to look at my daddy's B/C too i guess. my dad passed last november (2005) so all the info i may want in the future will have to be gotten from uncle rick. rick says that aunt sandy may have alzheimers and marion is sick but i really don't keep in touch with anyone except for aunt linda and uncle rick and we aren't worried about an inheritance so i don't know what that's about. as far as i know we were trying to find some roots but the more i dig, the less i care to know and the less i want to meet anyone in this family. i haven't replied in years but this last post caught my eye. i know which kornmeier's are my family and really don't care about the others.
robyn kornmeier bruchey

It IS exciting to find a link! I have copies of the cemetery cards, but know they change names. Seems like once I was there and saw them. I'm in Iowa, so appreciate anything you have.
You were asking about Bichimer children? When Mary Magdalen Scharf Kornmeier was widowed, she married John Bichimer (b. 1868 per census) and had:
1. Clara b. Aug 1895 m William Lampe d 1960 Jan 18
2. Charles or Carl b Jan 1898 d after 1973
3. Arthur b 1901 d 1968 Jan 18
Helen (I corresponded with her before her death)
b 1904 m Charles MacMillan d@1977 - I'm thinking in Florida in retirement
4. Loretta b 1906 m Robert Burns d 1935 per cemetery
5. Margaret b 1909 d before 1920 census
6.
WOW!! I have been looking for Francis (Frank) b abt 1892 for a long time! I knew his mother, Maria Sharf had remarried Bichimer, but then I could not find him. Where did he marry and who, and when? How many children did he have? Also, I have been looking for Nicholas as well...he's listed in directory abt 1916 Cleveland, but then nothing. So makes sense if he moveed to Calif. Also, all the buriel records you have for the Kornmeiers are with Holy Cross Cem., but they are actually buried in St. Mary's Cem on Clark Ave. You see, they lived right around the corner from there on Alaska Ave, later named W 43rd Str. I have photos of the house., and some of the graves. My Dad knew Victor Lambur, as he was my grandfather's cousin. Jacob Eiserlo and Anna Kornmeier are my great grandparents. Thank you so much for all the info; I hate when people just disapear and there's no lead. Are you in the Cleveland area or elsewhere? I am still in the Cleveland area and have access to the archives. Gail

Louisa was born in 1845 and died on 4/28/1931. She lived in Petersburg, Michigan and then remarried after Peter died and then lived in Toledo,Ohio. contact me if you think there is something here worth looking at. Thank you, Karen

Do you have a written record of your grandfather's death certificate? Are his parents listed on it? Specifically, are his parents Frank and Mary? These Kornmeiers are Ohio, and I know that Mary remarried Bichimer after her son Francis Xavier was born (1892) and after her husband died (Frank), also 1892. I have not been able to find him, except mentioned in an obit listed for his mother Mary Bichimer in Cleveland. Thanks, Gail (Eiserlo, Kornmeier)

Re:Prior George Kornmeier

My husband (George Edward Kornmeier) was born 8/12/29. His father died in May 1929. Am looking for any info RE his father who married Sophia Wittmeier sometime in 1927. Unfortunately, City of St. Louis records are a mess and cannot find any record of their marriage, nor can I find date of birth for the elder George Kornmeier. Think he was born somewhere in Germany (In vicinity of Urloffen). Any info will be appreciated.
