AUSTINTOWN, OHIO – Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Oct. 6, 2009 at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman, Ohio for Anna M. Kosa, 97, who passed away Sept. 29, 2009 at the Humility House.

Mrs. Anna Kosa (Blotor) was born in Aliquippa, Pa. on Nov. 7, 1911. She was the middle daughter of Simeon and Anna Popoviciu Blotor, who both immigrated from Romania at the turn of the century.

She graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1929 and attended business school in Pittsburgh.

She was a bookkeeper and a secretary and enlisted in the Women’s Marine Corps at the start of World War II. She was stationed in Washington, D.C. and in Hawaii and attained the rank of sergeant.

Mrs. Kosa was an especially lovely and talented young woman. She competed in at least one beauty pageant at the Chicago World’s Fain, where she made “Court.” She played piano and sang publicly in trio with her sisters, Lucretia (Kate Gilgor) and Jean Blotor.

After the war, Mrs. Kosa lived in Alliance, Ohio briefly before marrying well-known Youngstown designer/decorator, Victor Kosa. They married on Feb. 9, 1947 and he died on Nov. 5, 1981. Between the ages of 36 and 40, she bore three children and she was a wonderful homemaker, always producing something beautiful or delicious.

She crocheted, baked, canned, grew and arranged flowers, painted rooms, sewed and hung draperies and took fine care of her family. She loved to walk, she loved to read and she loved her home.

Mrs. Kosa leaves two sons, Samuel Kosa and his wife, Bobbie (Popa) of Jackson Township and Thomas and his wife, Ellen (Mancino) of Austintown, Ohio; her daughter, Dr. Ann Kosa of suburban Atlanta; granddaughters, Dr. Michelle Kosa Veneziano of Columbus, Ohio Katherine Kosa of Raleigh, N.C. and Laura Kosa of Jackson Township; a grandson, Jason Cosa of Austintown, Ohio; and great-grandsons, Tim and Mark Veneziano and Christian and Kai Cosa. She also leaves her nephew, Pete Gilgor of Alliance, Ohio his children and the entire extended Kosa clan.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
